Barrett’s Injuries (Plural)
News in that Barrett’s injuries (plural) are no better and no worse than before the start of the match in France. Again he needs rest but will not be given it!
(unconfirmed) Barrett will start the match and is expected to play for the full 80 minutes. If Wigan are seen to be in a position of not losing the match they will take him off. (very unlikely)
(Confirmed) Staff at the JJB are very concerned over his injuries.
I still cannot get to the bottom of his second injury that he has.
P.S. Hock is carrying a knock but no further news on that one.

If they are very concerned they must be bad injuries so how can he be fit to play at all?

Plus, if they are 'very concerned' why not rest him? I know we are very short of that position but surely Noble can do some rearranging... Put Higham in, Millard into #9 and put a young lad on bench, Goulding perhaps so Withers/Vaealiki are free to cover another position.

Surely if the injuries are as serious as Watcher says then we would be wise to save Barrett for games that are "must wins"?
All rugby players carry knocks - you can't crash into other human beings and expect to 100% all the time. I used to kickbox competitively and I was always carrying some sort of injury - didn't mean I wasn't fit to fight.
As long as Barrett is prepared to play then it can't be that serious. Withers was brought in as a utility cover and Goulding could come into the centres. Otherwise if Barrett is playing then I would be happy to see Goulding given a chance over the awful DV

According to the WEP, he'll play.
In-form stand-off Trent Barrett has shaken off an
injury scare and will take his place in the side to face
unbeaten Bradford at Odsal on Saturday night.
The Australian half-back damaged the calf muscle that has been giving him grief since the days of pre-season training.
The injury ruled him out of all three of Warriors' warm-up games and there was real concern when he again pulled up lame at the end of Saturday's victory. But a quick ice-pack applied to the muscle and
intensive treatment since has won the day.

Barrett’s injuries are a concern because the staff down there don’t want them to get any worse and are constantly working on him apparently. As I said he is down for playing at Bradford but is rated as a risk.

hmmm, this is a toughy, i know WW is always spot on the money but i fail to see why wigan would care about taking barrett out for a few weeks. I know people have said about fans and stuff but really why would they care? from a cold business man perspective they got the season ticket sales now, they got probably the majority of shirt money, i cant see Noble wantin the play someone he could really use at the latter end of the season and risking him its not Nobbys style. It just doesn't make any sense to me why they would try and cover up him being unfit, its not like we haven't had injury problems before.

Found on the Sporting Life site after the Bradford game:
Wigan will send Australian stand-off Trent Barrett for a medical check-up after he once more struggled with a calf injury.
