Let me have a go:
All round the fields of Central Park,
Where once we watched Billy Boston Play, (And did he Play)We had Robinson on the wing,
We had dreams and songs to sing,
Of the glory round the fields of Central Park.
I think thats right?
No excuses now. One of the best songs we've got.

The version that was finally agreed upon is:
Low lie the fields of Central Park
Where once we watched King Kenny play
Billy Boston on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
Of the glory round the fileds of Central Park
