Re: Tonight's team v Salford
My one quibble - and it’s very minor - is that we had a chance to take another look at Walters in place of Byrne, which we didn’t take. Am not really knocking him, but he is a high risk of a suspension, and his impact is limited (not helped by staying on the bench all game). My highlight of the nigh...

Re: Wigan squad for Salford (R27)
Huge credit to Forber that he has slotted in so effortlessly that his selection and long minutes pass without comment. I would be tempted to play Walters ahead of Byrne. Salford don’t rely on massive props, so we can be more relaxed about having 4 props.

Re: Matt Peet hails influential leader with name thrown in the mix for player of the season by Wigan Warriors boss
Ellis is Lockers re visited in the way he plays. He is a running threat, has superb hands and very good in defence. His emergence has been another sign of the brilliance of Peet and his team (clearly Lockers is having a very strong influence). Thompson has been majestic, but we knew he could be and ...

Wardle for me, if I am not too late. Our best centre week in, week out, for decades.

Re: New players.
I would go back to a sustainability test rather than a level playing field one. I think that having something that stops clubs going bust is sensible but not one that restricts spending, when we are clearly in competition with other sports and indeed the NRL.

Re: Team v Hull KR
Our support will make a massive difference in the next 3 games, which can lift the team and give the referee food for thought. 2 out of 3 guarantees us a home semi. Play our cards right and we have no more away fixtures.

Re: Team v Hull KR
Our best has been good enough. In the biggest games, we have stood tall. Last year’s grand final back line: Field Miski King Wardle Marshall French Smith WCC back line: the same save for Keighran for King Challenge Cup back line: the same save for Eckersley for Keighran It’s great to have options, b...

Our Josie turned 100 in May, and had a lovely do at the Catalans game. Both Chairmen gave her gifts, and she had a pitch presentation at half time.

It gives us a chance to get another prop on the books. Matty loves his props.

Re: Wigan squad for Magic Weekend
Each team will have around 40 sets a match. So, around 200 play the balls. Every team stops the vast majority of play the balls leading to tries. Even in walk overs. So, clearly defence is vital to winning games. But it is a team effort, which can be coached and improved. Farrimond is not quite ther...
