Re: Liam Byrne receives suspension ahead of Challenge Cup semi-final showdown
Well, I'm not cheering about a two-match ban but I still think that if it had happened say, 15 minutes later, it might have been a red. It really didn't look good at all. However, the disciplinary doesn't look great when Makinson (who I rather like as a player) but has form in this area, gets a one...

Re: Wigan squad for Huddersfield (R11)
To be absolutely fair, I thought French looked really good and perhaps more importantly, this was the first time this season that French and Field seemed to know instinctively what the other was doing and we looked devastating when it all came together. Take the point about Leeming but there is a ho...

Re: Wigan squad for Huddersfield (R11)
Pretty good display (eventually) on what looked like an over-watered pitch with the grass too short. Only Keighran seemed to work out how to execute a grubber kick that didn't skid on. Not sure why Ellis was singled out - he's been excellent this season. Since Lockers retired, we've tended to have a...

Re: Wigan squad for Catalans (R10)
Bit of a grim first half, although, to be fair, apart from that one lapse neither side looked like scoring. After that, it was like tightening a screw and Cats simply seemed to run out of ideas. Losing Garcia did help us there. Leeming was excellent going forward but O'Neill is terrific in defence -...

Re: Wigan squad for Catalans (R10)
It'll be nice if he hits the ground running (so to speak) but let's cut Walters some slack and not expect too much too soon. He's going to be a huge asset but he may well need time to slot back in.

Re: Wigan squad for Hull KR (R9)
Re Keighran, it took quite a long time for Toby King to come good last season, so I'd be disinclined to consider leaving him out but I hope he will curb that habit of jumping out of the line. I suspect he will always be more of an attacking centre than a defensive one. Field still doesn't look right...

Re: Wigan squad for Hull KR (R9)
I believe the new kit to be trialled will be sackcloth and ashes. Despite the sluggish display (could there be a virus in the camp? everyone seemed affected) there was the odd positive. At about the 55 minute mark, it became clear that HKR's pack were completely blown and the backs were having to do...

Re: Referee for Friday!
Looks like someone had a word with Mr V. It took 65 minutes for the first penalty for markers not standing square and it turned out to be the only one. Otherwise the match sort of ran itself with a lot of laying on, which is irritating, random 'six-agains' and his curious obsession with resetting sc...

Re: Squad v Castleford
Agree with pretty much everything that has been said. Leeming was curiously anonymous but demonstrated just how good and valuable Brad O'Neill is. Mrs SS remarked that Jai Field would have caught Senior for Cas's first try, not just because of his speed but Field tends to be be better positioned at ...
