Was post-doccing at Manchester Uni while writing up my PhD thesis. The only season I've ever lived close enough and had enough money to attend every match.

I found out on Friday that I was being made redundant and thought it was the end of the world.

The sad news of Mike's death today, at such an early age, puts everything in perspective.

My heart goes out to Mike's family.
