Well put DaveO, had some great games for us but seriously let himself (and us) down in his last 12/18 months regardless of his injury situation.
Strikes me he is more interested in becomming a tv pundit as he was on Sky last Saturday and then super league show on Sunday. Don't think he knows himself what he wants :conf:
Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Carney may have let us down badly in his last season, but at least we know he'll carry the fight to the enemy.
I agree with what you say about the relative merits of Richards and Carney in playing terms but surely the question mark over Carney is how long would he take the fight to the enemy? He left us early and walked out on GC early. Do you have any confidence he would not pack it in with us half way through the season based on his recent record? I don't.

In honesty, I don't know. On his day he can be brilliant, but you're right - other days you've no idea where his head is going to be at. (A bit like Henderson Gill in that respect).

If this does happen, it would be interesting to see what kind of contract Wigan offer Carney. Considering his age and past events, if it was down to me it would be one year with a possible renewal for a second if he performs. I can't imagine he'd like that, but can a begger afford to be a chooser?

IMO what Wigan should of done is let Richards go before the start of the season and of kept Chris Melling.

Melling was our under 21 player of the year and has proved himself in his very little appearances in our first team.

He can play on the wing centre fullback hooker and stand off and has a highly successful kick rate.

BIG mistake in letting him go IMO we should of kept him :exc:
Agreed, but the problem with Richards was, like DV, we couldn't find anyone prepared to pick up his salary, which meant we couldn't free up his salary cap space.

I hope that when the contracts of DV, Richards and Fletcher are all up at the end of this season we'll see a more sensible spending policy. Of the three, only Fletcher has been worth the money, IMO.

Iv read all the comments about Carney coming back playing, most people assume for Wigan...Has anybody thought he may join a different club?

As long as it's not us I don't care!

NO THANKS!
We've had our share of over the hill, injury prone players looking for one last good pay day. Let someone else fall for it.

I really dont think carney would've left wigan if the famous(not) Ian Millward hadn't have been appointed wigans coach. :conf: :exc:

As explained before, Carney started to play up before Ian Wayward came to the club, allegedly faking injuries so he could leave the club early.
