My thoughts exactly. We bought him as a replacement, so should use him as one!! If it looks like it isnt going to work, then we can switch it.

He's too young and not ready. The boy has only just signed for the team, is still a teenager and has neither the size nor the experience to play stand-off for the first team yet. Remember - he is one who has been signed for the future, not immediate cover for Barrett.

I saw him play at Whitehaven and thought he looked OK. but he has a long way to go yet before Nobby would think of chucking him in at Super League level.

Withers had a great game at stand-off against Salford, and can play in any of the positions from 1 to 6. Lockers can do a good job there too, despite what the anti-Lockers brigade would have you believe.

One thing is clear already this season - Nobby does not intend to rely on inexperienced youngsters if he can possible avoid it. At prop, he doesn't have a choice, at stand-off he does.

I don't think Withers has ever played stand off in his life has he?!?!?!
Yes when Iestyn Harris was injured, he was used at stand off with Marcus St Hilaire/Pratt switching to full back at the time.

He seems to naturally fit that position and has more experience than Flanagan.
