I agree totally - I deliberately left out any reference to Ashton because he seems to be doing a Kevin Brown and not matching arrogance with the on-field performances. But arrogance in itself is not a bad thing for a player.thegimble posted:Players of World Class ability can be cocky and arrogant - likes of Cantona, Souness, Eric Bristow, Shaun Edwards, Sean Long, Steve Davis and many more had a touch of arrogance about them but all were World Class and performed at that level for years. The way Ashton is going hes gonna be forgotten about quickly unless he gets himself sorted.Fraggle posted:Nothing wrong with being arrogant and cocky, there's plenty more like that in the sport. I said that I had heard that he can be a arrogant cocky little s*d. His performances this season are showing this as well!!!!!
Arrogance is one thing been lazy and believing you are great without performing is another.

Arrogance is looking like an EXTREMELY bad thing for Ashton at this point in time!!!!
Re: Dressing Room
I'm not sticking up for Ashton but when he was out of position (which was most of the time), he was in the front line giving out orders, now to me its not his job to be up there ordering his peers about, but, if no one else was grabbing the "bull by the horns" he at least wanted to do something about it and lead, or give some enthusiasm to a dead attack.

I donno why your all ripping Ashton...Its like blaming the goalkeeper for not saving a penalty!
If he wasn't let down by the poor defence by the rest of the team so often then perhaps he may not have to keep trying to pull out all the stops and by able to relax and concentrate on his own game.
I bet pound for pound this season Ashton has had to make more defensive tackles and saved more trys than any other back in SL this season.
It probably that the frequency he has to do it, makes do more mistakes than any other.
Get off his back and get onto Lynsay's who again signed up and released most of the squad for this season before Nobby had come on board.
Its another prop you need at least to avoid the relegation sequel and I recon two if you want make the play-offs.
Its so obvious, I just cannot understand why your venting your frustration at the backs!!
I wish Warrington had Ashton now, the same way I wish we had Briscoe too when Mo sent him down the M62 to recognition and improved his career. :doz:

Re: Dressing Room
I take it PNB you did not go to JJB Friday night. He never had a 1 on 1 tackle to make. HKR never really broke through our line. Sounds daft but all the tries the scored came from horrendous errors made by players. Second half proved that.primrose-n-blue posted:

Ashton slip when under no pressure started the rot. He looks poor under the high ball at the moment and once the ball bounced nearer to him than Calderwood or Richard but he just looked and jogged to it.
Hes a shadow of last season and to be honest he should not be in the side at present given that Withers is one of the bsef FB in SL over the last few seasons.
Also taking the horro show against the Bulls hes not right at the moment and maybe some time of will help.
Re: Dressing Room
I'll tell you what, Mickh is absolutely spot on. Ashton was taking the bull by the horns and shouting at everybody Friday and I take my hat off to him for that.
I have an idea. Why not (for one game only and then we'll see) why doesn't Noble make Ashton captain? Now there's a thought worth thinking about!!!!!!!
He seemed to do more leading and directing on Friday night than some of if not all of the other players, i.e, O'Loughlin.
But yes, I also quite agree, on current form, he is lucky to still be in the side.

barrett is on field captain. he is a big defensive organiser along with fletcher. ashton doesnt need to be captain he needs to concentrate on his game and not others.

Re: Dressing Room
Has everyone gone mad!! My posts have nothing to do with Ashton. My posts were relating to a conversation green vigo and i were having about players in the 90's being seen in clubs at that time.- psycho - posted:
well not calling him it as such, i was refering to what damien meant. his image he described of ashton reflected a stereotypical club druggie, not that he is one.
but yeah id go as far to say he is a "look at me, bruce almighty" kind of character. he may think he has earned his imortality because of his on pitch performances last season. his head needs deflating real quick.
Please do not put words in my mouth especially not about the illicit use of recreational drugs.

Re: Dressing Room
What players do in thier spare time is entirely up to them. If they want to ruin thier career then fine, we don't want anyone like that on our team anyway. If stuff like that is going on (which TBH is believable as i've heard it a million times before) it needs sorting out and fast. Fact is, what they do on the weekend shouldn't be affecting them on the pitch and if it is its Nobby who needs to give them a good kick up the arse.
