Bad news for Barrett?
I cant help but feel that if all the rumours of Barrett being played injured to save face are true the fact that Wigan played so poorly on fri that its gonna force nobys hand and make him play Barrett in the next match whether he is fit or not.
I think these are testing times for Wigan and there doen't seem to be any good answer to the situation were in the last thing we need is to loose Barrett for any length of time, having said that with the competition so tight we cant afford o put a string of losses together.
This is highlighting the lack of depth in our squad and it boils down to one thing, Imports, wigan fueled in my mind by Mo have been obsessed wih over seas "talent" for years now and its finally caught up with us.
I think that this season will be a trying one, and something that must be considered if we are for the drop is that 2009 is franchise time, now even with the legacy that wigan has its being dragged through the mud and at the end of the say only successful clubs will get a franchise, sponsers aren't going to pay moeny to a team thats failing to win anything no matter how great they used to be.
All i can say is that i think this season will put a lot of fans to the test, but having said that no-one has better fans than wigan and im sure we can get back on track.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

You do need to remeber we have attendances of over 14,000 every game. Only Leeds are better over the last few years. Sponsors will put there money on anything as long as it is adertised and seen by people.
More will see a Wigan shirt than a Wakey shirt so the sponsor would be more benefical in backing the bigger side regardless of success.
After all weve had a lean spell trophy wise but Warrington, Wakey, Huddersfield, Salford, HKR, Qunis and dare i say Leeds and Hull have not been as succesful as us in the SL era.
Squad wise i think is a bit of a reherring. Our 17-18 is a good squad and no way should we have lost to HKR on Friday. We were never outmusceled in the game in the 2nd half HKR was outmusceled. Our problem is the inability to have a stable squad over a number of years.
For the last 3 seasons weve had mass changes and not just players coaches as well. Thats the problem.
Our pack is fairly light in depth but Feka, Filden are great props. Weve a good Hooker in Higham and the 2nd rows are stong as is Lockers. Even the bench at 2d row is good.
If we do stay up this season and we need to remeber 1 win and were midtable looking at top 6 at this stage of the season. Whilst Friday was embarrasing sorry very embarrasing we can make top 6 in a fairly short period of time. We also can go bottom this is nothing to do with the depth of the squad but players attitude.

Loughlin is a lite weight and certainly not a leader on the field , when will people realise and come to there senses about him.
Our pack is light weight i think we all agree with that, lets get peacock here quick

Wigan is and always will be a town of Cherry & White

I'd rather have Barrett fit than risk him to injury. Something fans and more importantly the team have to put up with.

Mo's holidays in Australia must stop. I don't know how many more top coaches will come here and try and make a team out of the rabble that he keeps bringing back with him.Wigan_forever19 85 posted:

We have to replace far too many players every year. I think it is going to need something like a 4 year plan to get this club back and part of that plan has to be to get rid of Mo.
From Mission Impossible (1991) to The Great Escape (2006)

You are right we do have too many overseas players but don't forget two were signed by Nobby, Withers and Millard.Alex the Warrior posted:

Withers salary should have been used on a third experienced prop to replace Logan and the fact it wasn't is down to Nobby, not Mo.

I got told on Friday night that towards the end of last season Mo told Nobby that he could sign six players who he wanted,Nobby lined up the players he wanted only to be told by Mo that due to salary cap he couldnt sign the players he wanted & only had X amount to spend.Dont know how true it is but the person who told me does have somthing to do with the club.It would also back up some rumours in close season that Nobby had fallen out wuth Mo.For me MO has got to go,especialy if the rumours are true about 6 points being deduted in march.DaveO posted:You are right we do have too many overseas players but don't forget two were signed by Nobby, Withers and Millard.Alex the Warrior posted:

It doesn't matter how many players Nobby ended up signing the fact is he signed Withers instead of a prop. That is his doing not Mo's.gillysmyhero posted:I got told on Friday night that towards the end of last season Mo told Nobby that he could sign six players who he wanted,Nobby lined up the players he wanted only to be told by Mo that due to salary cap he couldnt sign the players he wanted & only had X amount to spend.Dont know how true it is but the person who told me does have somthing to do with the club.It would also back up some rumours in close season that Nobby had fallen out wuth Mo.For me MO has got to go,especialy if the rumours are true about 6 points being deduted in march.DaveO posted:You are right we do have too many overseas players but don't forget two were signed by Nobby, Withers and Millard.Alex the Warrior posted:

The players I am sure Nobby signed last season and prior to this are Hill, Withers, Millard and Flanagan and to be honest I can't see why we need any of those more then we do a third experienced prop and that is regardless of how good (or not) they all are in their respective positions.

I'll go further than that, Warrington have not had ANY success whatsoever in the SL era!
In fact we have only won the Lancashire Cup, John Player and the Premiership in the last 34 years!...No league title and no challenge cup.
With the exception of only Salford and Wakefield who have both seen relegation I think?, we have the worst record in the SL era from any of the teams in the SL this season including Hull KR!
