Hear we go again, blaming the coach, and yeah getting rid of nobby would be the perfect answer!

I gather from your login that you are a Brian Noble and unfortunately if you have ever played the game you will be able to understand that if a team is losing and the performances are as bad as we have played, the coach comes under pressure due to the coach being the man who sets plays and provides the tactics. Or in Brians case a lack of tactics. Hope this reply doesn't upset you to much.

Lets all get real here it is the same problem that Millward tried to address but Uncle Mo wouldnt back him then the players turned against him when all he wanted was a professional team. For me Noble hasnt done anything great for Wigan remember Millward didnt have Stuart Fielden and Micheal Dobson if he did he would still be there and now Noble is to falling foul of Uncle Mo.

The dressing room is in good shape. Noble has total control; there has been the odd fall out between players but only slight ones and nothing worth mentioning. If anyone tries to have a go at Noble he would be on his way with the full backing of the club. It is reported that Noble has more control over the dressing room than any other coach since the likes of Monie.

This is one area that is totally under control

If anyone posts anything differently then I will say they are a stranger to the truth.

no he is right. i don't think these coaches know how passionate some fans feel about this club. there is so much high expectation and the season build up were people say "oh we will win this we will do such and such a thing", when every single season it ends in heartbreak or zilch. id love to have someone like offiah as one of the acting coaches or an former great helping in training. watch the videos people, that's how it's done.

i hardly think offiah was the best choice of player in the good old days ? in his aday playing out side gene miles must of been haven , i judge a great player in 2 ways, his heart and willing to put your body on the line, offiah wasn't one of them if there was a attacking player running at him 10 yards from the line 10 out of 10 times he would score ,so having him as a example of how it should be done isn't correct . more like goodway or phil clarke, mcdermott not offiah :conf:
My answer to the 'Offiah mention' is this. A few years ago I went to a sportsmans dinner and the guest speakers were Andy Gregory and Alex Murphy at St Pats rugby club. Alex Murphy quoted "The greatest player I have ever seen in Rugby is Martin Offiah". It caused a few gasps around the packed audience. But, thinking about it why not? He was everything a winger is expected to do. Tackling isn't one of them 9/10 times in a movement. A winger is of almost greyhound like composure. Speed and agility with an even faster brain. So when people say Offiah should not be recognised as a great 'because he couldn't tackle' makes me wonder do they say the same about a Prop who can't pass a ball, or a loose forward who can't catch a high ball? Should we not be focusing more so on coaching a player to concentrate on 'his own' positional skill? A scrum half nowadays going to full back and then 'filling' in at centre during a game is surely a step backwards as his 'scrum half skills' as they are diluted. You may argue thats the modern way, but I disagree to a high extent. Yes, a prop may focus more on speed in the modern game and yes a forward may have to learn how to get more involved in abit of flair now and again, which also shouldn't be a problem (fitness wise) considering the amount of subs allowed now. But come on. Lets get to the crux here. We won't beat Aus/NZ in a test the way we are doing things in todays game. We cannot outpace them, we cannot out last them (time on pitch) and we cannot out play the positionally, man for man. Why? Because we have players now in positions expected to do TOO MUCH allroundness.
Lets get back to basics. A Fullback who can catch and tackle a man onto his back when on his own try line.
A centre who has the strength to draw in 3 men and hand off to allow a pass to an Offiah like player. A prop who can run at a defence with the SOLE purpose of gaining a few yards whilst 'hurting the tackler, or at least make them think twice next time. If he gets a pass away AFTER making these yards then yes by all means pass it. I think you get my drift here.
We need pride back into the Jersey whether it be GB or Wigan. Well first we need confidence in the skills required for 'that' position to get the best out of the man there. Then the fans in the ground can relate to the position of 'that' man and relish the battle with his 'direct' opponent.
This way the kid in the street doesn't want to just play rugby for Wigan etc. He wants to play scrum half or centre for Wigan. He wants to play Loose forward just like Andy Farrell did. Tell me how many kids at the moment want to play half-back right now? There is no-one to look 'up' at. No role models. These kids see 'Rooney' as a role model god-forbid(wayne not Jamie) and they're lost to soccer.
Before you knockers say 'yeah but the games' moved on from 'my day' I'll tell you this. I'm in my 20's. All I am guilty of loving rugby league. And desperately, desperately want what is 'BEST FOR THE GAME'.

ant mate you cant go back to the days when a player only played one position. if you dont have any versitility in players the game as a whole would be going backwards. hookers dont hang down in the scrum anymore and try to get the ball. wingers take the ball at first receiver and run the ball up to give there forwards a rest not just stand on there wings waiting for a pass. its the same in austrailia players have to be able to cover a few positions its just there national sport is rugby league and ours is football then union then cricket and so on. rugby league is way down the list for attracting new players mainly because you can earn just as much money working at asda than you can in league.
dont let your victories go to your head or your failures go to your heart
