Phil Bentham......

Post by turf »

VERY nearly cost us the game in the 79th minute when he penalised whoever it was for a ball steal.

As I have said, I don't know who it was because I was shouting abuse at Bentham for giving the penalty that late on in the game and as I have just said, VERY nearly gave Leeds the game.

to be fair to the Ref, I think that was one of the fairest refereed games I have seen this year.
He let the game flow and from what I have seen, got most calls right. :eh:

I thought the ref was pretty fair. He gave it as he saw it. He got a few things wrong but he had no help from his touch judges who were neither use nor ornament. The touch judges we have these days don't seem prepared to offer any help.

To be fair the ref was right to give a penalty as it was a blatent ball steal by Ashton. Although going mad at the time thinking of it on the way home was great play as there was only 30 seconds left and it wasted more time which Wigan needed for a quick breather. On a seperate note thought Lockers had a stormer and what a tackle by young Chris against McGuire thought it was to be a definate try!

As they always do.

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

Not so. It looked like that in real time, which is all the ref has to judge from, but the TV replays from a better angle than Benthem had make it clear it was Senior's arm that twisted round and his hand that flicked the ball back in an attempt to offload. Wrong call from the ref, but totally understandable.
Squad number 18!
