it was very nasty, murphy was lucky not to get seriously injured but this is a tough game, played by tough players. if it was footie then the player would roll around several times. and then would have cried.

i watched the game on tv and i have no idea how he didnt seriously hurt himself- his shoulder landed on point of step- however, i do feel that if he had a game next week, he wouldnt be playing. however, the incident does ask questions of how close do the advertising boards need to be?
NOBLE OUT PLEASE- YOU'VE HAD TIME AND NOW MY PATIENCE HAS RUN OUT!

IT'S ONE THING TO LOSE, IT'S ANOTHER TO PLAY DIRE AND BORING RL AND THEN LOSE!

Well although DW gave us a nice stadium to watch the game in he skimped a bit on the length!

The in-goal area is very short IMO for an RL ground.

I don't know if there are rules or guidelines about how long it should be but it has always seemed too short to me.

It used to be between 6 (min)and 11 (max) metres, but I'm not sure if that's changed. I might check the bye-laws tomorrow if I can be bothered! As far as I remember, it's the club's choice within those limits, but they're not allowed to change it mid-season - I seem to remember Bradford getting into trouble for that some years ago.

It's a good thing RLFans is currently down, or it'd be inundated by holier-than-thou trolls demanding the immediate closure of the JJB on grounds of health and safety, and the prosecution of Wigan RL, Whelco Holdings, Dave Whelan, Maurice Lindsay, etc, for criminal negligence.

I must admit it looked a horrible accident, but it's the first time I've seen anything like that happen there.

One of the Wigan players hurdled over it about 5 mins before that incident too! (Can't remember which)

Its clearly something that needs investigating!

The good looking one!

No doubt Health and Safety will be having a look at the problem ,it could have been potentially a serious accident.

Trent Barrett. Coiuld have been nasty too. It should be possible to cushion the area. Is that a new tier of advertising hoarding? Not seen the back of the ingoal area so noticable before. HC

That's what I thought also. There's not many teams (that don't share their ground with a rugby union club) that have an in-goal as big as 11 metres.

I thought it was good how Ganson said "we're not starting play until we know he's alright." He does have a heart afterall, lol.
