Now, I have seen a lot of Millard over the years, and have always thought him an honest pro who never shirks his responsibility. Does anyone else think he should call it a day?
Having seen McIllorum play these last 2 games, I have seen enough to conclude that he's a better bet for the team and a player who is ready to be Higham's understudy (I also think he will rapidly replace Higham as our number 9, as he can actually pass accurately, but that's for another day).
Surely Noble can see this? Surely Millard can himself? He has had a great knock and never let any of his sides down thrown want of effort, but tempus fugit and all that. I would have immense respect for him were he to put his hand up and admit it's over.
Time to call it a day, Shane?

What about Whithers? He's getting to that stage as well.

We dont have a young fullback to replace him though.
Bomhead - "Lockers to prop."
Re: Time to call it a day,...
Pat Richards srpings to my mind. I don't think he has the current pace of Ashton though.
This is why I think we could miss Ashton, if we cannot get a good enough FB to replace him.

apparently ashton was to stay at wigan and keep the no1 shirt to himself noble told him this before the start of the season but then mo went off on his own and signed withers which had nothing to do with nobby ashton then realised as much of a p***k that mo is that if he didnt want him ther then he couldnt stay there so he looked for other options and found one in union this was told to a friend of mine by ashtons sister
Re: Time to call it a day,...
It was Mo's fault then that Ashton's going. Sounds like your friend knows Ashton/his sister well, and it sounds to me like Ashton has been forced out.

None of that is true. 100%fitzy posted:

The poster formerly knows as Wizard_Millward.
I wasn't as fit or strong as before but my two biggest muscles still worked - my heart and my head - Kris Radlinski.

Sorry, too late to try and rewrite history now. Despite what Ashton and his sister might say, we all know the real truth of this situation.fitzy posted:

Ashton's agent marketed him to Union for months, in order to the get the highest possible price, and Wigan weren't even given a sniff. Ashton was fully compliant with this from start to finish (THAT photo being the bullet he personally fired at us), and all the 'damage limitation' excercises that he and his friends have tried to launch since then just make him look even more pathetic.
Every time he has a good game this season, all it does is remind me how much of a mistake he's made. Sure, he's got plenty cash in his pocket, but he'll never work his way up to the next pay-level playing out on a lonely, muddy wing against second division Union sides, in front of tiny crowds and no international selectors whatsoever.
Your decision, Chris. So stop whingeing, and live with it.

We don't, and that has to be our #1 priority for next season, because Withers isn't the answer. A few weeks ago, I'd have said a prop was first on the "wanted" list, but the way Prescott and O'Carroll are coming along, I don't think that's the case now. I also think Goulding is capable of filling our other centre spot next season, assuming DV goes.nathan_rugby posted:

Unfortunately, both the full backs we've been linked with recently - Mathers and Briscoe - suffered serious injuries this weekend. Okay, we're only looking for next season, but with Mathers it's the knee - AGAIN. And with Briscoe the jaw, which needs to be plated and is a notoriously difficult injury to bounce back from. For what it's worth, I broke my jaw badly and the doctor told me quite frankly that my playing days were over.GeoffN posted:We don't, and that has to be our #1 priority for next season, because Withers isn't the answer. Is this a spanner in the works, I wonder?
