I hope Faz DOESN'T win Man of Steel!

Meanwhile Lindsay is tipping Wigan skipper Andy Farrell to lift the 2004 Super League Man of Steel award in Manchester tomorrow night.
He is so confident, he said: "If the winner is not Andy Farrell then I will retire from rugby league and they should scrap the Man of Steel competition."
So I'm now rooting for McGuire to win Man of Steel. Bye bye Chairman Mo!

He has a point about Faz though!

If McGuire gets it then you may as well just hand it to the top try scorer each season. In fact is he top try scorer? I thought someone from Bardford went past him on that front in the regular season stats?

There ought to be more to being the man of steel than tries. Qualities like leadership, guts and standing up to be counted as Faz has done by playing prop (for example) when the team was falling apart due to injury.

It would not surprise me however if they did give it to MvGuire just to be different. If they do, Mo is right they may as well scrap the award.

Unfortunately, while i whole heartedly echo your sentiments, it will be an empty promise just like when Pete Waterman said he's commit suicide if his boy band didn't make no.1.

Without a doubt Faz should win it after being named best prop in the country. McGuire is a great finisher in the Shaun Edwards mould, but shouldn't be considered for an award liek this until his facial features have been rearranged in similar fashion.

I know, he's been my candidate for half the season, but it is tempting to hope they'll vote against Faz and for Maurice to carry out his threat/promise.

I agree that McGuire shouldn't be anywhere near this award, despite the speculation. The Volcano did indeed pass him in terms of tries, and Marcus Bai can't have been too far behind. Tries shouldn't count for anything in terms of Man of Steel.

I agree with Fraggle - it'd be worth the injustice of Faz being denied MoS just to get rid of Maurice.
Pity we can't count on him to keep his word though.

Marcus Bai can't have been too far behind.
And thats only from playing us the other night !!!

When I read that title I actually thought Faz had done something completely stupid and you really were hoping he didn't win it!

Faz deserves it more than any other player in super league this season, we all know that but for the last few weeks (and sky sports dont help) it's been leeds this leeds that, look at all leeds youngsters....LEEDS YOUNGSTERS?!?!?! My gawd, it extracts the urine when they mention the fact that leeds have a lot of youngsters. Our team doubles up as an under 21s during the week.
