Went to my first game in 1991 against Hull. I sat on the bottom step of our stairs and kick and screamed because I didn't want to go to the rugby with my dad and brother while my mum went to work. I went along (I had no choice as a 6 year old) and was hooked from day one! Been a season ticket holder ever since and not missed a match for over 120 games :D

Easy peasy. The cup final against Workington Town in 1958 before becoming a consistent supporter the following season.

I love this thread - makes me so nostalgic. I started going when my grandad died leaving me his season ticket for the Dougie Stand and his shares. I was 11 and it was 1978/9. It was the end of the relegation year, so I watched the second division season as my first full year (Swindon on Boxing Day?).

Early heroes were Fairburn - we seemed to be a 1 man team - then Nicky Kiss, Hendy, Graham West (what an impact he made from day 1) - then I had the privilege of watching Brett Kenny. My memory may play tricks but I am not sure I have ever seen his like since (Lockyer maybe?).

Im 29 and have been watching as long as i can remember :)
My first real memories were at an away ground around 1990 (snowing so possibly whitehaven or the likes) and they had the cricket style score board. S ome poor guy had to keep running up the ladders to change wigans score as we were hammering them. Got to about 50 and the opposition hadnt scored, the guy stomped to the top of the ladder  grabbed the numbers, threw them on the floor and went home :) !! I remember being stood were the numbers had landed and thinking "how good are wigan   .
My saddest memory was when dean bell swallowed his tongue in a semi final :(
The whole crowd seemed silent apart from me sobbing my little heart out, thinking he was dead :(

I remember going to Hull in that infamous challenge cup tie where we literally froze. Remember being asleep as soon as we got back to the car wrapped in a picnic blanket... I remember a lot of late 80s games but being young I cant pinpoint an exact one but definately been almost everywhere watching Wigan in th'old days. I have proof I was at the Offiah 10-try game :D which im proud of, can say i was there
