Yes but this evidence stuck and was obvious a while back. We got what we deserved we are cheats.

I don't really know what you mean by "this evidence stuck", it presumably also did for other cases that have been over-turned on appeal. But the legal system seems to rely on loopholes to exist, everyone makes use of them (so I'm told by a lawyer friend)

The rules only cover the salaries that are actually paid in that season; I still don't understand how thay can rule that deferred payments can be counted in last year's cap.

OK, the RFL are saying it's against the spirit of the cap, which may be fair enough, but the extras would still have counted on this year's cap instead of last year's; it's not as if we were trying to hide them.

Presumably, now, though, the deferred payments won't count in this year's figures, which should mean we'll be well under the cap now!

thats true !!! We obviously have a chairman who doesnt quite grasp the rules. He thinks that he can do stuff and he clearly cant. Unless we have a written statement from the RFL stating that deferral of wages is allowed we dont have leg to stand on. Maurice should have had to forsight to request that document last year and if the RFL said no we cannot give you that then you know.

Smudge, as a teacher I may believe that pupil X is a bad egg BUT if I want to exclude him I have to prove it with evidence and my case has to be 100% proof legally. If not, the Governors will throw it out. Why because legally they could open themselves to a massive law suit.

The RFL got things wrong. They had already been made to look incompetent over the amount of points deductable. They could not allow that to happen again. Alas that is no basis for a ruling to be made. If you make a mistake and somebody outsmarts you legally you take it on the chin and learn from it. Making sure it never happens again.

Wigan RLFC must call the RFLs bluff and appeal and threaten a legal law suit. In the long run it will serve the whole of RFL better because it will force our governing body to manage its affairs more compently.

We broke no regulation. Yet we were punished. That is the type of regime and conduct one expects from dictators such as Mugabi et al. Not the RFL.

Smudge, the law does not work like that. You are told what you cannot do. If no law exists there is no burden of proof required.

You guys are consumed by your hatred of ML to see what the reality is. We broke no rule.

Geoff is right. We now have a gap in our cap. I say we use that gap to pay advances in the same players salaries and create opportunities to sign another player next season.

And anyone who turns there noses up will be laughed at very loudly and called a fool for supporting him in such a blind manner.

Then on the other side it will be "Come on the Lads dont let Maurice bring you down"

That should get a reaction.
