I'd imagine that Stanton, like many other Wigan youngsters, is criminally underpaid. But that's the whole point.

It's all very well Andy Clark pushing him towards some club that doesn't have its own converyor belt of youth talent. But Wigan have a wide pool of kids all jockeying for first team attention and wages - and as I understand it, among all these promising young lads, Stanton's lack of physical stature is a genuine cause for concern.

However, I hope he stays at Wigan and gets paid what he's worth. With new management coming in, that may well happen.

(PS: He can't be compared to Jason Robinson. Robinson had freakish acceleration and agility. Stanton's a good player, but he doesn't have those qualities).

Cruncher is correct. Comparing any winger to Offiah and Robinson is unfair. Both were all time greats IMO.

Stanton is not a robinson/offiah you wont see players like that again he is the next best thing to robinson/offiah ask the to people who signed him BELL/FOLEY he could have signed for 2 football clubs wigan ath/bolton bell/foley talked him out of it if you get the chance to speak to nobby/forshaw/willkinson/wane not one of the 4 are worry about is size you never saw offiah play fullback/hooker like this player as done for wigan18s/21s 16/17/18s england academy. He cant be that bad if 3 S/L clubs and 2 RU clubs are after him i have never meet this lad in person my mate is one of the names above.ps he will be at wigan next season FACT in the 1st team sq

I was talking to Ged Stazicker last year about Sam Tomkins and I was saying people keep saying he is not big enough blah blah. Staz simply said 'if you are good enough, you are big enough'

I know Nicky. He will be the first to hold his hand up and say academia was not cut out for him. So he put everything into sport. He is truly focussed and dedicated. However, what seperates him for me from many is how fearless and tough he is. The harder it gets the more he enjoys it. You cannot create that. You either have it or you do not. The hardest hurdle he faces is cross field kicks. However, there are techniques to overcome lack of height in those circumstances. Tackling, he is fine. The best tacklers are short in stature.

When Alan Langer was first picked for Queensland there was dismay. Wally Lewis, Gene Miles all questioned his selection saying he was not big enough to tackle / handle Origin. One senior selector battled to get his way and get Langer selected. The majority wanted Laurie Spina.

In that first game Langer pulled off amazing tackles. He drove somebody back over their own line to force a dropout. He proved everybody bar 1 man wrong and became a legendary Origin player. The likes of Wally Lewis subsequently apologised
