As I finished off previously that the team is not wholly to blame, then obviously neither are the administration.
I just think people should get this points deduction in perspective. It represents about 18% of the points the side has given up this season. 82% of them have gone due to lost games.

While the team (and coach) are not wholly to blame given they are the ones who have given up by far the most points they should take the lions share of the blame because they have lost the lions share of the points IMO.

The reason we are 9th and looking over our shoulders not 4th and looking up is due to loosing to Hul KR twice at home, i can live with loosing away, but to loose at home twice to the newly promoted team is very very poor.

But wins and losses always occur! Irrespective of the HKR performances the team's efforts had got them into 4th place! You should actually be arguing that they should have beat KR twice and be in third! Or even should be unbeaten and therefore top!

Tehy got to 4th on their abilty, good or otherwise. They dropped to 9th without playing a game. :eusa17:

Dave, that team irrespective of performances against said teams, where in 4th place in the table.

And ultimately they should take the lions share of the praise for getting in that position and being reassured that there performances would not be in vain because of some administrative cock up!

Based on previous seasons debacles you of all people would have snapped someones hand off if you had been offered that position before the season started.

Any possible timing of the better performances leading into the play offs has been totally bolloxed by this error.

I have not been happy with the way the team has been playing all season long before this points deduction came in.

In fact on this message board I have already posted on several occasion replies to people who have made posts along the lines of "Whoo-hoo we are 4th aren't we great" saying hang on a minute just look at the way the team plays the game which is inconsistently.

I have said on several occasions that despite being 4th (as was) the team is not playing as well as the one that finished last season. Do you disagree?

The fact we got to 4th on the back of the way the team has performed says a lot about the standard of the league

It is not as if we have lost to the likes of HKR having put in a quality performance and come up short. If that were the case then the team might have a case for feeling short changed by the administrators regarding the points deduction.

That is not how it is. The team has capitulated often enough to cost us enough points that means the four points deduction has had the effect it has. The team got itself into a position where four points cost us five places by some seriously sub-standard rugby.

If they are feeling all their hard work has been undermined by the four points loss they have a different view of hard work than me because that would not include dropping 22 points and losing 11 matches in the manner they have lost a lot of them.

Nobby has done fine this year.

He got us to a creditable and stable 4th in the league with recent wins over 2 of the 3 teams above us. (Still cannot crack Saints - but who can?)

The team has been shattered with the points deduction. This deduction was defferred by the club until semi-final week - this was not Nobby decision - this was a huge blow going into the semi.

The team know that their season is over and Nobby is trying to firefight from 9th in the league instead of pushing for a better play off spot.

The club is at fault more than the players and coaching staff.

It could be argued that in the 3 performances against Leeds Bradford and Saints we were playing as well as last season but it is immaterial. Irrespective of the quality of their play they attained 4th position purely on ability and then attained 9th position purely on a points deduction.

Well I don't think you can say they were playing as well (or we would have beaten Les cats and Wire) and how well they are playing is what got them the points total they had prior to the deduction. I think our longest winning run is two games (??)
Irrespective of the quality of their play they attained 4th position purely on ability and then attained 9th position purely on a points deduction.
The point is had they not put in those inexcusable performances the points deduction would not matter so they have no justification for sulking as if they had no part in them being in 9th position.

I'm sure they knew they weren't playing well enough but they were still in the race and had lots to aim for. From that position they could have girded their loins for a big push but the events could well have taken the wind out of their sails.

I suppose we will have to agree to disagree. I don't want to place myself squarely behind the players purely to defend my point because, as I said at the beggining, they share some of the blame.
