Had it not been for Withers retirement and Ashton's complete lack of form I think that DV would have played a lot less games this season.
That's a big call Matthew!!! :)
Not necessarily. Whilst squad numbers don't really mean too much, there must have been some reason why Ashton was given 1, Withers 4 and DV 14. He was obviously not deemed to be part of Nobby's ideal starting 13...

I say give him the 3 years that Orr had!
I know what you mean JJ, and I'm no Danny Orr fan, but two wrongs don't make a right.
So what are you proposing? Do we persevere or would you rather get rid?
We can't get rid in the same way we could not get rid of DV because on current form I doubt there is a queue of likely takers.
At 21 with a mediocre pack I say stick with him. Hock has been far worse this season, but I say stick with him too. I made the mistake of calling for Wilde's head after a lousy season. I was wrong.

TL will be a year older, a year wiser and a year more experienced. Danny Orr will just be a year older.
What have you seen that suggests TL won't be just another year older?

As to Wilde well he was less than brilliant for more than one season for us so at the time his form seemed a culmination of several poor seasons, so I think that is why he was released. He is also playing in a new position at Hudds, one he never held at Wigan, 13, so unless you want him in the side in place of Lockers I am not sure why you think you are mistaken.

It is with hindsight people are questioning the wisdom of that decision but with TL I don't know what warrants similar caution over saying if he is good enough or not. He has had the odd good game but then so did Orr.

I wouldn't say Barrett was your worst player by a country mile, but I will say that he has been the biggest let down over the course of the Wigan season.
He came surrounded by huge hype and only shown the occasional glimpse of that pre-season hype during the first third of Wigans season.
I don't see him being talked about in years to come among the likes of Kenny,Gregory,Edwards and Hanley. Lets be honest Barrett at his best form in the odd game is a gulf away from them.

Exactly Mike. These comments would only be valid if PnB actually watched him play. BTW what about Morley this season?

I was tempted to put Fielden in the worst players but to his benefit he does try and his defence has been excellent
so does vaealiki, yet his efforts got him into your worsed 3.

im not being funny ian, but feka has done alot ebtter than fielden. looka t the meters feka makes. and yeah he goes off and doesn't spend 80 minutes on the field, but he's an IMPACT player and based on that he is one of if not the best in superleague. considering fielden is our highest paid player, he does no where enar enough, which is why he made his way comfortably into my bottom 3.

I agree, Morley has been a complete let down following his hype.
Briers didn't come to Warrington in a cloud of hype but to answer your question,...well we can lose Briers and win, we lose Bridge we can't, period.

Makes a lot of sense to me. How long did it take for somebody who is claimed to ooze class, start to do it?
Or are we honestly still waiting, its in patches, albeit some more greener than others. He may well have stayed in the tunnel against the Cats and Warrington for the worth of his contribution at the HJ.

I have watched Barrett play many times and he always seems to me like he plays the game much slower than the afore named backs used to.

A great player of no doubt, but will you be talking about his legacy a season after he has gone?

Considering the lack of go-forward that our pack have given him and the fact that his half back partner is limited in his ability to put people through gaps; it's not exactly surprising that at times Barrett has been taken out of the game.

The games he has shone this year have been when our forwards have gained yards.

Our backs have not been that settled and we seem to lack someone other than Barrett who can really turn a game.

Even Hanley would have struggled to carry our current team on his own - unfortunately this is what Barrett has been forced to do.

Imagine what Barrett would do if he played for (heaven forbid) Leeds or stains
