Cooke investigation

This sound familiar to anyone?
Sporting Life
The 26-year-old stand-off completed a highly controversial cross-city switch at the end of April, a move which the game's governing body initially blocked before eventually sanctioning.
Sounds very similar to Fielden's move - except there was no illegal approach!

It is interesting that KR are claiming that they haven't done anything wrong:
Sporting Life
Hull KR have vigorously denied any allegations of wrongdoing on their part, although Cooke today admitted he was not surprised the case had been re-opened.
Surely they know that the "anti-tampering" deadline the same as everyone else? Surely they should have said to Cooke: "we'd love to sign you; however it is against the rules"?
Sporting Life
The result ensured Hull KR would remain in Super League next season.
So allegedly like us they signed a player that helped rescue their season and preserve their top flight status - however there aren't scores of fans from other clubs demanding that they face a points deduction. How predictable.

That combined with the crowd they have had this season could/should have seen them face a hefty fine and possibly a points deduction - you can bet you b@lls to a barndance that we would have![/url]

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

Cooke's case is based on the (alleged) fact than he never signed his contract with Hull, so was a free agent.

The point is that it look as though Hull KR have signed a player that they shouldn't have - and this has heavily contributed to their survival in superleague. When we did this last season with Dobson and Fielden; just about every club in the bottom half of the table were up in arms - a different club does it and no-one bats an eyelid

It was initially cleared by the RFL, though.

Unlike the Fielden transfer, which both clubs wanted (Bulls were desperate both for the transfer fee, and to offload part of Fielden's wage from their salary cap), Hull didn't want Cooke to go.

Hull are claiming Cooke signed a contract, Cooke himself says he didn't - that's what all the fuss is about.

Funny how this comes up once HKR are safe from relegation. :sly:

That was my point! How come the fans of every other team aren't demanding that they be docked points and sent to NL1?

Where's p'n'b with his "NL1 needs a strong Hull KR" campaign?
