Dont think its because we are not bothered it may be just a chance to sort all the crap out and give the younger players the chance to get more experience. However it could have a significant effect on the sale of season tickets.
Or we could be in line to sign some very very good players after the sale has gone through
Hull KR sign Chev Walker
Re: Hull KR sign Chev Walk...
The sooner the take over is sorted out the better its looking like we are not going to sign anyone at all for next season unless the new owner pulls a rabbit out from his hat.
Re: Hull KR sign Chev Walk...
How we pulled players in the past has got nothing to do with the fact that at the moment we are losing out to the likes of HKR on a decent player (not great but decent) that it is widely accepted was a target of the coach who (according to JJ) thought he was a nailed on signing.bertina posted:
...but maybe in the past our "pulling power" was down to us being prepared to pay top dollar for mediocre players.
Paying top dollar in the past for players whether they were good or not is no excuse for letting a club like HKR out manoeuvre the club now over Chev Walker.
In any case we mostly paid top dollar for top players. It is a bit of a myth we paid top dollar for lots of mediocre players.

Walker had actually been training with the Warriors too! This is very reminiscent of the Nathan McAvoy "signing " prior to this season. WHAT, and more importantly, WHY have these players not ended up signing for Wigan? After apparently coming close to doing so.WxmWarrior posted:
It is widely accepted that Walker was on Nobby's list of intended purchases, however he has been poached by arguably a lesser team.
This to me, highlights the urgency of ML's departure, and also shows his apparent lack of interest in the future of the club (don't read too much into media soundbites).
I do know he has had surgery - but he has in the past flown overseas to peruse and negotiate with, possible future signings, long before the seasons end. This IMO, has not happened - our lack of prospective overseas players is an example (IMO our quota will be filled from overseas already over here).
Also a poor showing (so far) in "homegrown" signings is worrying - Coley might be OK, but he alone will not be adequate. We cannot sit back and sign the players that no other club wants.
As some have said - we need to "pull the rabbit out the hat" now. We have let Hull KR do a "Shane Varley" on us!

Re: Hull KR sign Chev Walk...
According to Daily Express, Lenagan refused to pay the fee that Bath wanted to release him from his contract.
About time someone stood up to these money grabbers.
Now, here comes the next question.
Next year we move to a live cap where you can only sign players if you can afford to. This is next season not now.
Next season there is no relegation (I think) and therefore apart from playoffs, it will not matter what you have overspent this year, as you can't get relegated.
Are KR deliberately overspending to bolster their squad, knowing that no matter how many points they are deducted they can't be relegated? :conf:

Could be but then again if they get points deducted it would probably stop them getting into the top 6 and the play offs. If they have serious ambitions that would be a big blowFROM A TO B posted:

Good luck to kr just hope they can win a few more in order to get some cash to pay the fines for hammering the cap and also afford to update their ground to allow them to be accepted in the franchise!!!!!
Keep Wigan "Wigan"
Re: Hull KR sign Chev Walk...
If you look at Hull Kr's current rosta - apart from Cooke they don't really have any really "big earners".
We on the other hand several - of varying degrees of value for money.
It seems likely to me that KR have got a form of "transfer fever" as they have signed more players for next season than anyone else to date. Furthermore they have almost certainly offered Walker more money than we did - if the offers were the same (and he had been training with us) then it seems obvious he would have come to us - especially as KR are not guaranteed a franchise next year.
Whilst I am disappointed with the current lack of activity in the transfer market - it will be interesting to see what happens once our season - and the NRL season are over; there might be some developments then.
It seems highly unlikely that Lenagan bought/is buying the club to see it float in mid table mediocrity (as it has for a the last few seasons). The guy hasn't even officially taken over and already people are criticizing him for letting Walker get away - what's to say that he hasn't got other players; better players lined up?
Walker would have been an acceptable signing - however it is not like we failed to sign Gasnier and stains got him for a tenner a year is it? Speaking of which - how many players have stains lined up for next season?
If it gets to Xmas and we haven't signed anyone other than Coley - then start to get concerned. Until then just be patient!

Re: Hull KR sign Chev Walk...
I personally would have like to have seen walker at the jjb pairing up with calderwood again although hull kr can have him if theyve just put in a huge bid for him then they can face the consequences
