Best seat in the house

Post by cpwigan »

Went in the East Stand last night, first time ever. Four CPWs went instead of the normal 2. Anyhow my seat was F47, very close to the North Stand and a real 50/50 mix of Wigan/Saints fans in our section of the EAst. I cannot think of a finer popsition to be in given the nature of the result

Let's just say CPW enjoyed himself :)

I had a great time. Some real good banter with one Saints bloke. Shook his hand at the end. Some were pathetic. Even had a little kid going mental at me. So I just laughed.

It is interesting to realise how little noise you can here besides your immediate area. Having sat in the South stand I know how noisy it is BUT you cannot hear the anything at the North. You cannot even hear noise from the middle section of the East.

Oddly, I found the East stand stewards far more approachable.

I had a bit of banter but lately I detect a real streak of nasty envy sneaking into saints fans, almost as if they know their time is up and a period of Wigan dominance is looming for them
"They just came to the club.I was there training in the Under 13's. They told us we had to stop playing Rugby 13. They took our kit and even the balls". 1942 unknown French rugby league player. Never forget.

Oh some are vile. I had one guy grab his shirt and point to the 4 trophies on the shirt, so I just pointed 1 and said number 1 team in RL. To which he returned his middle finger. All I ever say to them is you can win what you want, Wigan will always be number 1. Just think how well you did last year and yet all anybody was interested in was the Wigan relegation story. I think that is what eats away at them. No matter who is dominant on the pitch, they still remain secondary to Wigan RLFC.

At the end I always try to treat them decently. It should be the same as when you play sport. Giver each other hell for 80 BUT at the hooter it ends and you joke/laugh. Some cannot handle it in that way.
