Would love to know who the panel of experts actually are :conf: The only conclusion I can draw is they did not like everybody assuming it was a certainty that Trent would win it and they do not like anybody/anything connected with Wigan RLFC.

Barrett, who was last week named the Rugby League Writers' Association player of the year, received further recognition when he was voted the GMB players' player of the year in a poll of all Super League squads.

It does not get the profile BUT the players' player award is far more worthy.

Shame some panel decided to stop the clean sweep.

ITs the biggest joke and totally devalues they award.

Barrett by a mile has been the better player.

Barrett unfortunately is Australian. Now im not accusing anyone of racism (heck im not) but has any non British player won the award since SL started.

Checked on a website and only Adrian Vowles i believe was non British. In my opinion Roby got the award based on nationality than ability. As to give the award to maybe the 3rd best Oz No6 at present really shows how far SL has come in player development compared to the NRL.

Boy we had Lyon and let him go? Now im confused.

Seems maybe were more hated than we thought if Barrett never got it and Lyon did. Great he was Barrett is by far the best player in SL and better than Lyon was.

I like all of you are struggeling with this one. All the talk before hand was Barrett or Wellens then they give it yo a player who is 2nd choice for his club.

I too would like to know who is/was on the panel because they are obviously anti wigan unkowledgable morons.

Also, why give anderson coach of the year. Sts have done what was expected of them. Wigan, Huddersfield and HKR have done more than expected so why not give the coach of the year to one of those three coaches.

In football the only two player awards that matter are the players player and the football writers player of the year. So why let idiotic "sts fans" decide the "ultimate" player award???

Catalans coach also he's done a treemendous job down there from finishing 12th to 10th AND a challenge cup final backed by an average catalan crowd of 8,000 (near St Helens figures)

For me he should have gt the award (name has been blanked at present)

You know what, at our club players player is regarded above all other awards.if you ask our players they are more chuffed at players player than coaches player or anyone elses player. It shows that you are respected and admired by your peers and i guess thats not bad, but in that light Barret should have got both..
