They don't normally bother me either but if ever there was a player who has epitomised the qualities the MoS is supposed to represent this season it is Barrett. I think that is why I am so annoyed about it because it is such a clear injustice.

With the rugby league writers award and the players' player award, I've got a good idea who's on the panel. The strange thing is the RFL save the highest profile individual award for an anonymous panel - who then use the award for payback because Wigan decided to challenge the salary cap regulations.

It's a shame I'm not more surprised by these shabby 'behind-closed-doors' tactics which are typical of the way in which the sport is run.

I believe the secret panel must contain several TV Media 'personalities given that the writers have their own award. The whole saga leaves a very nasty taste and reflects badly on British RL.
