Catalan 2008?

Organise your next away trip, see who else is going or even arrange group transport with other Wigan fans.

The only thing I've got to say about all this is:

are we going on holiday or to watch a rugby match???? wouldn't we prefer to go ANYWHERE in summer (eg Bradford, Leeds, Saints)? it doesnt matter if it's in France, if i go itll be to watch the rugby and i dont care what the weathers like as long as we win... who cares if we play them early season again and miss out on our sunny little holidays? if you want a holiday in Catalans in the summer, book one, and stop moaning about us playing them in the colder months.

With all due respect, you're not in a position to have to pay for an entire family if they want to go on this trip, or indeed an entire family trying to budget and plan for their summer holiday. For many people it's a case of either go to France, or take a holiday. Many of us can't afford to go to both. Given that the rest of the league's fans have at least had the option of combining the two, I ask again why Wigan fans should be potentially forced into a difficult decision about whether to support their team or take a holiday.

Of course, some people are well-off enough to afford both, but we're not all in that position of luxury...

True Fraggle. Ive just left uni, got new car and danielle 21st holiday etc so money is tight. It would be nice to play Catalans in summer so I could potentialy combine it with a holiday (sun, sea sand and all).

If wigan draw them away in feb/march, so be it... but a bit of relaxtion of the norm would be nice from the RFL

People seem to be missing the point.
As Fraggle has already pointed out, not everyone can afford to fly there and back in a day, whilst a long weekend in the summer, would mean you could combine a nice break, along with a game of rugby.
You never know, we may get them away twice next year, so one game could fall into the "summer" months.
Why are people getting a sh***y on about my suggestion, or would you all prefer to make the trip in the wind and the rain? :conf:

Well I can see what you mean Fraggle, but my point was not to have a go at people who want to take a holiday, merely to emphasise the fact that its a rugby match (even though its in France). At the end of the day a fixture is a fixture and my basic point was that to reschedule a rugby match just because people want to go on holiday would be ridiculous.

I'm not asking them to reschedule, as they haven't set the fixtures yet.
What I was asking was to give Wigan fans the chance to have some fun in the sun.
I'd much rather be sat outside a bar in the South of France after a match than huddling under a brolly waiting for a coach to take me home!

Well yes I would as well personally but then again doesn't the same apply to all games? Would you rather it be pouring down at Odsal on the terraces or it to be sunny? Obviously we all want it to be sunny but at the end of the day we cant just ask the RFL to give us a summertime fixture because we want some "fun in the sun" as you put it.

The thing that gets me with the catalan fixture is how do we find so many idiots willing to pay such an extortionate amount of money to do the day trip on the "official" plane.
It is always bejond me how much they are willing to pay.

We had five days there for LESS than them.
They are being well and truly ripped off yet will be there again.

you miss the point.
Odsal is only an hour or so away as is fairly easy and cost effective for most fans to get to.
Can you honestly say that you would not prefer a weekend away in France with a chance of decent weather?
