Designing Scrum Plays, ?

Post by nathan_rugby »

Hi, i play sunday rugby and decided it would be a good idea to think of some plays/moves to execute from the scrum in an attacking position.

Does anybody have any ideas they can sure ?

Ill gladly feed back sunday afternoon and let you know how they worked.

Could be little competition, who can design the best scrum play ahha

Play 1 - Overload = scrum half / LF both break blind. Stand off and scrum half give it plenty of verbals beforehand to suggest a wide open side move

Play 2 - Extras = You verbally give the opp the inkling you are going for blind side overload AGAIN. Instead, the scrum half having fed the ball moves out to 6 and the LF acts as the scrum half passing the ball to the SH. Everybody in the backline runs unders.

In an attacking position our team takes the second row out comming on the angled run through the gap at high speeds.

My own would be stand off runs round back of loose (Wrap) Loose comes out wih the ball. Scrum half runs in the opposite direction loose gives it to scrum half ... Loose then backs up scrum half. Then center comes on the angle... I must try this in the back gardan hahah

There for stand off acts as the dummy runner
OOOOOO were the greatest club in the world!!!!

put a big forward at stand off so it looks like he will take the ball up, then kick the ball downfield for your fastest player to chase.

40 metres from opponents try-line

scrum > ball to #6 (say Barrett)

Barrett kicks into 10m corner

Winger (Calderwood) runs, picks up, scores

Hull FC did this with Raynor in 2006... great try! it works also

we have one called SALFORD which works the defence pretty well

the scrum half feeds gives the ball to the stand off. the stand off then does a run a round with the full back and then an x- ball or kiwi occurs putting the centre through a gap and this always comes off!
