how do sts get 5 pts most i can give them is 4
* Facilities - 0 points out of 2
* Finance and solvency - 2 points out of 2
* Player production and competitiveness - 2 points out of 2
* Attendances - 1 point out of 2
* Geographical location - 0 point out of 1
* Complying with the rules - 0 point out of 1

The bit in bold is how I get 'em up to 5 because while they have an average gate that is poor for a side at the top of its game they do manage more than the likes of Salford, Wakey and Quins (all of which would get zero for this).

That's exactly how I got them to 5, too!

As an approximation to what I suspect would be the sort of figures the RFL would use regarding attendances, I guessed something like under 5k=0, 5-10k=1, over 10k=2

Having said that, there may be some allowance for non-SL clubs, perhaps based on the average for their division? It seems fair to guess, for example, that Cas & Widnes would get over 5k once out of NL1.

Ive thought about the NL1 clubs also... obviously being in NL1, Widnes wouldn't have as many season ticket sales/ attendances each week than if they were in the SL. It would be unjustly fair to lower Widnes' points when we know they have a decent following at home and away.

Better than
Catalans
Quins
Wakefield
Salford
Huddersfield
Castleford?
Toulouse*
Celtic*

for away support

I wouldnt give them 2 points for finance. They couldnt cough up the 50k for Bibey and need sponsors for the players so it doesnt have to be paid by the club. Also is the IR still investigating them?

So we get...

Facilities: 2 pts
Finance and Solvency: probably 2 points unless they decide to take salary cap breaches into account here as well as the rule breaking points below
Player production and competitiveness: 2 points (most playeers in SL started at Wigan :lol: and we only miss top 6 very occasionally)
Attendences: 2 points
Geographical location: 0 points
Compilying with rules: 0 points

So we get 7 or 8. We're grade A/B borderline - no relegation for us!

Sounds like a very poor system to me. Its very all or nothing. I mean a club in SHeffield say - do they get the Geographical location point or not - it could make the difference between a C grade and a B grade for someone, and is entirely arbitrary.
As you say, the points do seem somewhat arbitrary, but it seems to me they'd look something like this:

Leeds 9
Hull 9
Wigan 8
Bradford 8

Warrington 7
Huddersfield 6
Wakefield 5
Catalans 5
Salford 5 (if they get their new ground)

Quins 4
Castleford 4
Hull KR 4
Widnes 4
Toulouse 4
Celtic Crusaders 4
Leigh 4 (new ground)
st helens 3
