To be honest I really can't see this happening, it's probably just an old story being recycled.

But should Mr Whelan decide to build a new ground for the Warriors then a capacity of 15 to 18K simply isn't enough.

When we have matches against the likes of Saints, Leeds & Bradford especially come Play Off time we need a capacity of at least 20K.

Also, there's no way we could host Test matches anymore if we had a capacity of 15K.

Have to admit though if we did get our own ground it would be nice to see a return of the terraces (like at the Halliwell-Jones) to get that pitch side atmosphere back.

i ca'nt believe after 10 years that fans want to go back to standing on terraces. i certainly dont.the fans in the stadium make the atmosfere . wether they are standing or siting dosent make any diffrence .and as for the pitch i have been the first to call it in the past and have sent in posts on this subject but after seeing the state of the other pitches on TV this weekend ours was quite good :o

According to the M.E.N. we are to get a new ground.

Make it 15 - 18000 and pretty central and i wouldnt say no.

The pathetics have destroyed our pitch.

It is about time we got our own stadium.

I would love a facility like the h.j. JUST FOR THE WARRIORS.
15-18000 would'nt be big enough!

whats the point of leaving the JJB? As Mike said we haven't lost at home for 18 months. We wouldnt need to move from the JJB anyway if the latics got in the premiership (unlikely!) as charlton and London shared the Valley for about 2 years.

Well statistics never lie, but in my opinion the JJB is for people who want to sit 3 miles away from the action and I only go because I have to to watch my beloved team. Lets have a proper Rugby ground.

I can see the council being really happy about this idea. Wasn't the rebuilding of Saddle Junction enough of a nightmare for people?

It makes no sense for us to move. We've got a superb record there (until a week on Friday, although maybe not after Bradford's performance against Wakefield!) and are bringing in bigger and bigger crowds. What's the point of a 15-18k stadium when we somehow managed to get 13k in for Salford? If that was correct, then we should be looking at significantly more than that for all the big games, and 20k+ for things like Good Friday. Also, if we move, who is left to bring in money to keep the JJB Stadium going? Whelan's not stupid, he knows that he can't run a 25k stadium with the attendances the Latics bring in, even if they do manage a season in the Premiership before dropping back down to reality again.

I remember terracing at Central Park, I remember not being able to see all of a game because I'm a short-ar*e and ignorant tall people always liked to stand in front of me blocking my view. Not much I can do at my age to make myself taller, and it's enough of a pain trying to see past people's heads at away games without having to do the same at home. I've done that in the past, and now got used to being able to watch the game instead. I certainly wouldn't want to go back again not being able to see anything. We're not all 6ft tall.
