Is there any truth in it, do we want Newton, do we need him, can we afford him as an extra player in the squad.
If we do have money to add Newton to the squad and not let anyone else go then we must still have enough money left in the salary cap - it must be a good £50-£60K
I don't think we do want Newton, and I'm sure we shouldn't be able to afford him. If he's on much less than 100k then I'd be surprised, as a senior key player with international honours. I also couldn't see us having Newton, Higham and McIllorum on our books, with MM surely this season finally getting the 2nd hooker role after a few false starts in recent years due to injury. Is there perhaps something about Higham that perhaps Noble isn't happy with? He wasn't first choice last year, despite being better (in all our eyes) to Grandad Millard, and remember Nobby was still at Bradford during the weird Saints-Bradford-Wigan transaction that saw Higham come here, he presumably wasn't over-keen on Higham going to Bradford back then.

just seen it on sky sports.....

would be amazing if we signed him, we need a hooker who is hard and one that can dive over with power from short range...

we have mclorrum who is fast and can dart through gaps solets get newton back......

if it doesnt happen it isnt a major blow though higham is a good hooker i just prefer newton.....

Bring back the legend!
C'mon wigan get him back! he's immense, mickeys good but it's Terry Newton nough said!

And it's about time we had some players that will put a fist in and stand up to the opposition and there is no doubt that Terry Will do that!

The word is Newtons on about the same as Higham (he is on a lot for a player who is ok)and it would be a swap plus money to Bradford, Both contracts are around the same the cap would not be an issue . Highams a good strike player but not sure about him starting ? Newton can play 60 70 mins which would allow Macolrum the time to develop . This still as some way to go , for a kick off Newton would return he still loves the club , the management who released him have left ,he's a Nobby favorite and if we offer enough Bradford will take it as they did with Fielden and volcano .

If we sign Newton within two games you'll have forgotten that Higham was even here.

Everything they do is so dramatic and flamboyant. It just makes me want to set myself on fire!

if you read the sky article, newton says he doesn't want to come back. Its weird because in that article he state that he want to stay at bradford to win trophies however, in an WEP article late last year he was tipping us for success??!?!. This has got to be detrimentally bad for highams confidence if true. I think noble prefers newton cos he is an old style hooker, were as highams more part of the new breed of hooker with much less distribution from the ruck and more dummy half runs. Ive always like higham, hes quick and he gets through tonnes in defence and doesn't give any penalties away while hes doin it. I think its poor move if true from noble, no player wants to know they are second choice. Newton is a great player but his skill is flawed in the sense if he looses his head he's no good to anyone. I prefer higham at this stage. His workrate is fantastic and hecuts defence to pieces ok he aint the ball handler newton is but thas what we have barrett for. to be honest im a bit annoyed by this move, especailly offering higham cos what does this say to him, well not only do bradford think your not worth having on the books neither does the club you play for!

It is poor management to be trying to do a deal like this weeks before the new season starts. Noble has effectively told Higham he doesn't rate him.

Even if Noble doesn't rate him there is a time and a place and going for a deal that was unlikely to come off really isn't a very good move given this was a possible outcome.

I agree. I was never a great Newton fans and think people were blind to his faults because of his passion.
Newton is a great player but his skill is flawed in the sense if he looses his head he's no good to anyone.
My problem with Newton when he was here wasn't just he temper but was he could drift out of games. He just wasn't consistently good enough and of course we had to have Godwin to bring on when Newton lost the plot.

My feelings exactly. What a great way to install confidence into a key member of the team. Poor management IMO.

Mcllorum still has a 'bedding in year' i my opinion!

Newton (if Nobby sorted his penalty count out) would be a positive signing!
