heard a joke on gmr the other week after latics had been on tele, they asked which was the oldest football ground in the world? the answer was the jjb its the only pitch with a roman road running straight through it

if we are looking at rearranging the quins match we have already played them away so cant swap it that way. But it did say in the paper that they were looking at rearranging that game. I would assume that they are just looking at changing the date. By the way it wont be affected by the latics games as the footy season will be over by then

Perhaps... Quins v [whoever] will take place the day we're meant to play Quins at home... and we play [whoever] that day away... so i guess Quins will travel up to, say, Warrington... and we play away against, say, KR?

I guess we dont know

The way i read it was that because we had a three week window no match at home it would be the ideal time to dig up the pitch.

But when you consider that we've already played Quins away, and this would be our second of our two matches against them this year, it really wouldn't be fair on the people who have already bought season tickets.

Just a bit of info on what they will do according to Steve Bruce at the recent Latics forum:

When the pitch was re-laid last year, they laid it on top of the old soil (which is apparently sh*t) and so they'll need to dig down around 4 feet and totally relay new soil and of course turf. It will then need time to knit together so it doesn't rip up as soon as you walk on it.

PS: If both teams (god forbid) lose in the first round of the cup, we may play the game on a cup weekend.

Too right geoff... And with the poor condition it is in at the moment it would be a good idea. Just hope they do it sooner rather than later.
