Every player should be a captain in my eyes. Go out every week, do your job , "That there getting paid for" and hopefully pulll off a win. Theres no point blaming 1 person thats just unfair.
after reading that post matt, i rose from the couch and began apploading! (ok not really)
but my god! i've been screaming this all day at anybody willing to discuss that tripe yesterday!
it doesn't fall on ONE guy all the time! yea he's an integral part of the team as captain, but there's another 12 players on the pitch at any one time with lockers who all - the last time i checked - have mouths! USE THEM!
To be honest, i hate lockers and do not rate him at all as a player and as a captain.
But, his performances this year have been on par with fielden, bailey and himself.
When your a captain, you should be leading from the front. Setting examples, bossing the field and making yourself known.
From my exp from playing, when the going gets tough and heads go down, do you know what lifted me. Seeing my captain take a great run and bursting through the defence, or pulling off a try saving tackle.
When has lockers ever done this ?
Never.
He never takes the ball up, hides outwide, misses to many tackles, gives away stupid penalties, doesnt talk to his players in possitive and negative ways, doesnt argue the toss with the referee when he has a leway with the ref as he is captain.

no hope for the lad then! give up now Sean! :what:
hold on...who was the shining light for GB in the winter? yea playing at 2nd row but cor blimey, he must have something about him!
The phrase come out wrong, whats your problem picking at everything i say.
Lockers, fielden and baileys performances have been on par with eachother this year.
I dont care if he played good for GB, its now that matters.
People are still hoping fielden is going to become the worlds best prop again, it isnt going to happen. He has lost it.
When a wigan cast off, a usual st helens bench warmer or reserve is knocking back the world record rugby player, something must be up.
Can't believe this thread at all!
Out of all the players on Friday he was one of the best and IMO only Leuluai was better.
If it's because he's captain, then it's still garbage.
If he gets the blame for this game, then he should also take a pat on the back for taking us so far in the play offs last season, but if any player needs a captain to motivate them, then they shouldn't be at Wigan. Somebody suggested Bailey and Fielden should be given the captaincy. The only thing they should be given is tickets out of wigan. It was also suggested that the captaincy should be taken off him even if there is nobody better for it. Great idea!
And as for try saving tackles. He does it all the time!
Its passion i want from him, hes a wiganer through and through and should have been reacting like most of the crowd when we were getting stuffed. He never once looked bothered and just stood hands on hips.
Can you imagine Farrell like that. He would have had steam coming out of his ears.
How do you know is wasn't bothered? Just because he doesn't show it, doesn't mean he doesn't care.
He's not Farrell and there is still nobody to touch Farrell in Superleague, so we couldn't even buy in a captain to touch him. And if we could, we've no money to spend.
How about blame the coaching ? Nothing seems to improve from a previous game, so what do they do other than pick the team? As far as the penalties conceded improving some weeks, is that what they've worked on, or because each referee, referees the game differently? Last season we have one of the best full backs in the league, so we replace him. Most people can see that Matthers is a problem at full back, but nothing changes. Wouldn't be rocket science to try switching Mathers and Richards would it?
Never been Lockers biggest fan, nd Fridays game didnt change that.
Still dont think he is right man to be captain.
Yes he may have passion for the club, but i honestly think he lacks the quality andthe Rugby brain to carry of being the captain of this great club.
Also dont think Calderwood should be at the club, as soon as someone comes near him he falls over, Get up son and show some balls.
and dont even get me started on Fielden, Thank got for Coley And Carmont.
Hate to see the club i love get steamrolled by Stains, shouldnt of happened. Time to play for those shirts Boys, Show your so called passion for the club[/b]
to be honest ive never really rated lockers as skipper material. every time wigan concede a try the person at least trying to get the team motivated is barret most of the time something oloughlin should be doing constantly along with barret. he needs to establish himself as a leader within the team and be prepared to put his body on the line wether that be in attack or defence to lift the team. I agree it isnt easy as being a captain myself i sometimes lack mouthing off aspect and tend to use my peformances on the pitch to boost the players although they havent been terribly good but then again the team i play for boost each other without the need for me. something the wigan players should be doing constantly with oloughlin in particular
