Re: no ones mentioned Carmont
can't comment on today as i never go to games anymore :conf: but from what i have seen of him & read about him, i would say he is the best signing made by Nobby thus far, he tackles and scores try's, what more can you ask for, no wonder the Newcastle fans didn't want him to leave
Re: no ones mentioned Carmont
I like him I do not think he is getting enough opportunities to show his prowess in attack. Today, he stood up to Chev Walker and immediately afterwards Walker went looking for a big hit on Lu Lu leaving his winger alone. Trent and Carmont saw what had happened and it put a stroll in try on for Colbon.
I do believe Carmont is looked upon favourably in part because DV was so hated but he is doing well. Just sad that being acentre in the Wigan team rarely means you get good running opportunities.

Correct Tony. Our backs are being flogged and showing the forwards up. The pack are collectively a disgrace.
Re: no ones mentioned Carmont
Hang on a minute for the first time this season the backs have seen the ball and all the trys came from the backs .I have been advocating on here that we should spread the ball out and not go down the middle the forwards did their job as did the backs .

Carmont got coaches MOM
Re: no ones mentioned Carmont
Arghh. We did not do what we needed to. Hull Kr play a compressed defence. They want you to shift the ball wide and they then drift out and tackle you. Anybody who saw their victory v Hull saw some classic tactics against a compressed defence for both tries scored by Hull. The first, a second man play at the centre/winger. The second hitting the ball against the drift/dropping the ball back against the drift. We learned nothing from this nor did we plan anything to counter it.
We do not have a plan in attack. it is Ad hoc and pray to somebody that the brilliance of the individual players sees us through. Against a compressed defence you want to be running moves from centre field. That is what we did in the first 5 minutes. Thats why Trent set up the first try. By starting from the centre. The defence has to split more evenly and the compressed defenders have less time/opportunity to drift. The second try came because Chev Walker lost hiscool and trent seized upon it. The third was a brilliant pass by Goulding bringing Calderwood back inside against the drift.
Our attack is amateurish. We have a world class stand off having to make it up as he goes along. A disgrace.

If I can just give my two pen'orth ... I though Carmont had a crackin' game and Bailey deserved the MOtM.
I do wonder what on earth they get up to in Lanzaroti (or wherever the pre season jolly is), but why is it always April and May before the team actually starts to play as one (not thet everyone has yet)

Re: no ones mentioned Carmont
Bailey?
He would find it hard to make my 13 when Hock returns...looks very ordinary.
Richards, Carmont and Mcllorum all outplayed him from where I was sat.

Re: no ones mentioned Carmont
I thought Carmont had a blinder solid in defence and drew two men leaving colbon open for a decent chance. Oh and the way he made walker crap himself and then appol;ogise immediatley was class. I think he has been a cracking buy and will only get better
