Thakary released!

Former Great Britain Prop Jamie Thackray has left Leeds Rhinos by mutual consent.
The 28-year-old joined from Hull in 2006, but has failed to break into the first team squad this season.

"Hopefully something will come up soon. All I want is to get back playing and prove to everyone I can still play," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"I tried my best and never did anything wrong, but the new coach has come in and he didn't see me in his plans."

Thackray has won three caps for Great Britain but was not part of the Lions squad that beat New Zealand 3-0 last year.

Meanwhile, prop Kylie Leuluai has been named in the Rhinos' 19 man squad for Friday's trip to St Helens despite being carried off in the 44-2 defeat of Bradford last week.

However, Lee Smith and Carl Ablett have both been ruled out.

Get him onboard Nobby !
Months trial see how he goes. Would give Fielden a much needed kick up the rear as well

would sort out Fielden and if he was consistent enough then why not make it a permenant signing, he is known to have alot of pace for his size and posistion, correct me if im wrong but im sure it was him who traveled at least about 50yards for leeds and scored,

can do better then afew of our props

i'd have him on either a trial period, or a 'pay as you play' deal (if thats allowed in SL?)

he wouldnt be a bad signing only on the grounds that he behaves himself off field.

We need some weight up the front of the pack anyway so for me he wouldnt be a bad gap filler, after all IL said that if the right player was to come along there was still some room under the cap!!!!

its all abit strange this Thackray stiuations isn't it?

the guy SUDDENLY is out of favour since the new coach has come in!

not made one squad since the new Gaffa arrived!

surely it cant be simply 'out of favour'! surely he'd get in somewhere, even if just at Cas' away the week after the WCC!

I know Tony Smith had problems with him not being able to do certain basics passing a certain way and footwork if i remember correctly and Thackery wasnt all that willing to work on his weaknesses so i dont think its just the new coach he is out of favour with

i see....

still, lets see what Nobby can do with him

Why?, Nobby can't even handle what he's already got, let alone rejects from other clubs
