Nothing in my books but Roy Kinnear did play in that final and scored. It was of course his dad.

Try this one

which Oldham player was a master of the stiff arm and regularly laid out his opposite number. He was threatened in a game at central park by Billy Boston who tracked every positional move this guy made in order to be opposite him. He soon afterwards become a Wigan player and got on fine with BB and the late Eric Ashton.

Correct a brilliant centre but had that nasty streak all the more mysterious as I believe he was a very religious person.

We also had a winger who could use the stiff arm Mick Sullivan who i think played alongside him for a while.

Alan Davies was one of the best centres i have ever seen.

Now Doug I am going to throw this one back at you :) It was supposedly Mick Sullivan and urban myth style it is accepted as fact. I believed it until this year. Mick did a DVD recollecting his career in which he described the famous match. Whether it is true or not but he is adamant that he had been moved to stand off the previous match or maybe more so in his view it was not a mobe to foil Murphy. He did say they did not last long and I think Clay was refereeing. Everybody believes the Sully took Murph out version. Whether true or not I now do not know.

2 For you. 1 easy. 1 hard.

1) Whose eye was nearly permanently damaged owing to the substance used to mark out the pitch?

2). 5 Wiganers represented South Africa and competed against Wigan at Central Park. Who were they? and what was the occasion?
