PAUL TO CROSS DIVIDE AGAIN

Henry Paul is set for another dramatic switch of codes after being linked with a move to relegated Guinness Premiership club Leeds Carnegie.

The 34-year-old New Zealander, who is currently in his second stint in rugby league with Harlequins, is expected to be unveiled by the Yorkshire club at a press conference at Headingley tomorrow morning.

Leeds, who today released 14 members of their squad following confirmation of their relegation, plan to announce a major new signing for their National League campaign next season, although they declined to confirm their target was Paul.

The former England rugby union international is out of contract at Harlequins at the end of the current Super League season in October and is thought to have shelved tentative plans for retirement.

Paul has enjoyed a remarkable career in rugby league, starting out with Wakefield at the age of 19 after impressing on the Junior Kiwis tour of England in 1993.

He went on to win every honour in the game during a three-year spell at Wigan and was a Lance Todd Trophy winner in three successful seasons playing alongside younger brother Robbie at Bradford.

Paul, who won 23 caps for New Zealand, switched codes in 2001 when he joined Gloucester in a deal part-funded by the Rugby Football Union and went on to play six times for England.

He returned to league two years ago and has been in superb form for Harlequins this season.

Yeah thought Henry would have finished his career off at Quins, but you never know it may be just a load of hype from Leeds hope so :(
