You have got to look at it from our point if view ,we have un fairly been blamed by every 1 in football for the state of the pitch(Latics not included).iT LOOKS LIKE THIS GAME ON SUNDAY COULD DECIDE the premiership (i know some of us couldnt give a poo) ,it ia MULTI BILLION POUNDS BUISNEES with a possible world wide audince of miilions.
I magine this ud winning 1-0 with 2 mins to go trophy in the bag ,heskey taakes a shot hits a divert and some how goes in 1-1 chelsea take the title.
Just imagine the bad publisity the rugby would get because we played there on a friday and caused that divert, and caused the title to go to chelsea ,ferguson and utd and the rest of the world would be up in arms at us for going a head with this.

Now hopefully we have shown our decent side and been compensated as well by the premier league or at least whelan for doing this.

I now think the pitch is in a fine state and should look good for the premier league show piece and we keep our good name as well .

Yes it's not the perfect senorie but at least it's 1 that will work ,i do beleive that the club looked else were but nothing looked right ie hilton park and a couple of other local stadiums.

So for once lets get behind the latoics boyz and stop Utd winning the title( coming from a ciy fan)

Oh by the way if latics need a point from this game i belive another reason why we are not playing on the pitch ,is because dave whelan as booked a heard of cows in for friday night and saturday to rip the pitch up anyway.

Seems like Mr Whelan is giving his bessie mate Ferguson every possible chance he can to win the title.

Just thought we needed to look at the psistion the club was in for this (still think tickets are a bit pricey after what we are doing)

I would much rather this game be played at the JJB on whatever night than at Leigh or Edge Hall. Playing at Edge Hall would also have guarenteed a record low attendence (you can't get more than 3000 in on the grounds safety certificate). Hilton Park? your having a laff. FOr me, switching the fixture was a good option, but I can see why the club didn't want to do that.

Once more I think IL has taken a very sensible decision. I can envisage that if we have of played before this match, even if that did not affect the outcome of the game, Fergussons comments could easily have led to the Premier League creating that rule that doesn't exist - i.e. its not allowed for a PL team to share with another club. It will gain a huge media momentum even if we don't play before the match - let alone if we did play! In any case, I expect in the run up to the MU match we will be hearing about the terrible state of the pitch from Fergusson and that it is the RL teams fault, so its better for us to be able to dodge the bullets that come our way. Its a fact of modern media-driven life

Totally agree Mike with what you are saying there is nothing else they could have done but we still don't have to like it

If we accept the club had very little choice then that is reasonable. However, what is not reasonable is the lack of financial compensation from Dave Whelan/Wigan Athletic/Premier League. The money is vital to Whitehaven and if compensation had been offered it may have allowed Wigan RLFC to lower admission prices.

We also have the pending disruption to another fixtures to come when the pitch which is week by week getting better and better will be torn up and replaced.

THe Latics can pretend all they like but the dire state of the JJB has been a Godsend to them.

DO you know that there is no compensation?

The fixture may have a higher attendence on a Monday than it would have had on Friday night due to novelty value. I reckon the attendence wouldn't have been over 5000 in any case.

No compensation has been mentioned Mike. I think we can take it that means there is not any. A weekend fixture would have produced the best attendance. Friday next best. Monday I doubt will. I hope we get a reasonable crowd for the sake of Whitehaven.

The first game of the season that I'll miss!!! Would have very much liked to have gone, but am more concerned about the fact the players will only have 4 days before they are playing again, and against a dangerous team like Warrington, especially if we lose to saints on sun, we may end up on a 4 match losing streak!!!
