No he came out and lasted the year with the club.

Monie actually took the team into the prison to train with offenders in that way Clarke was also training with them. He stayed at wigan for a little bit and then let go

Joey Barton has just got 6 months but he hit one guy 15 times and another guy too. It was on CCTV. He had previous too.

June 16th is the sentence hearing.

It's now all in the open and the trial over, he is guilty of GBH and so now it remains to be seen just what the sentence will be and whether the club or the RFL will take any further action e.g. for bringing the club and/or game into disrepute.

So far the club has declined to comment.

Cheers, Dave, I missed that article.

Lets face it with FEKA's form and his popularity with the fans i don't think wigan will take any further action. If they wanted to take further action they would have done it in the winter when they would have had chance to get some one in to replace him. What every one has forgot was chev walker and ryan baily from leeds both served time (i think) and were still contract by the club.

CPwigan, Joey Barton was found guilty of ABH, a seperate and less serious offence than GBH.

Do you not think what Barton did sounds far worse. I think the woman should have been punished too.

I take your point though.

Barton was also charged with affray which is meant to carry an automatic custodial sentence in itself. He was also on bail for 2 other offences. A prison sentence was a certainty for him.

They could not have done it then as he was not convicted so the club had no reason to cancel his contract, especially as he had at the time pleaded not guilty.

Now he changed his plea and has been convicted the club has a reason to act if it wants to.

I agree with you that given his form of late and his popularity they club won't want to cancel his contract but I do think this puts them in a awkward position.

That was up to Leeds so is not relevant here. Wigan are not compelled to follow Leeds example.

Barton apparently hit the person15 times! not once.
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
