Another Australian to succeed Mick Potter in Perpignan

Catalans Dragons have appointed Kevin Walters as their new coach for next season.

Walters has signed a three-year contract to succeed Mick Potter, who is joining St Helens at the end the current campaign.

The 40-year-old Australian, who was a hooker for Canberra and Brisbane during his playing days, is due to link up with the Perpignan club by the end of October in time for their pre-season training camp.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge of coaching the Catalans Dragons for the next three seasons," he said.

"It's such a wonderful opportunity for me and I'm excited to be a part of one of the newest rugby league clubs in the world.

"After meeting with the club last week I had a great feeling about their passion and vision for the game, which I found very attractive and complimented my views.

"My family are also very excited to the move to the south of France and become part of the local way of life."

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
