The Australian Rugby Union are not set to launch big-money raids on rugby league for Mark Gasnier and Sonny Bill Williams.

Gasnier and Williams have both hinted at switching codes, with a number of clubs in France and British believed to be monitoring the situation.

that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I bet Gasnier don't like them apples, maybe his well known usage of other clubs to boost his contracts has come back and bitten him on his ass

Luckily the tide is turning. England not selecting players like Big Les, Faz and in Aus, the Sailor saga, other lower signings not progressing has put them off League players. I think Jason Robinson made them think it was so easy. Just sign a League player and hey presto.

Its not "put them off". They are targeting the under 20's competition players.
ARU Chief Executive John O'Neill said he was now more interested in recruiting players from Australia's National Rugby League (NRL) under-20 competition rather than making high-profile signings.

"If we're going to concentrate our talent scouts anywhere, it will be on the (NRL's) under-20 competition.

"I think the earlier you can pick up talent ... where the skills in rugby league and rugby union are very similar, we're moving away from that top end of the market and concentrating on getting in a bit earlier."
