RAMPANT McNALLY CLAIMS DEBUT HAT-TRICK - Schoolboy McNally reaches for the Sky with Haven debut

Post by josie andrews »

Teenage scrum-half Gregg McNally scored a brilliant debut hat-trick as struggling Whitehaven stunned Co-operative National League One title contenders Salford on Thursday night.

The A-Level student capped a memorable performance with a stunning breakaway try from a kick-off as the Cumbrians ran out 26-22 victors at the Recreation Ground.

McNally said: "It's a 17-man game, I can't do it on my own - but what a debut."

What a cracking game that was. One of the best perfomances from Whitehaven

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

it was one of the best National league games I have ever watched! Right until the last second the game was open. Officials where very good and that McNally was awesome at 7! Good to see Salford getting shaken up and they will find it hard in the Northern Rail Semi away to Celtic.

mc nally was class throughout the game and hes only 17. id like see us give him a trial but according to sky hes going training with leeds in august. salford are finding it hard in that league after losing to whitehaven and they only just beat featherstone and celtic c other weeks.
