As I mentioned in my previous post he wants incisiveness and pace in the backs and he also said something like he wants to see or encourage them (the backs) to get there.

Will he be employing a sprint coach or is that Nobby's call?

IL can see the problems with the backs. He isn't daft or blind to them as most fans aren't who care to take an objective view.

It may be a question of whether Nobby is open to such suggestions from IL or would consider it interference.

We didn't like Mo interfering with coaching did we? But of we can see the problems, can also see IL is of the same opinion yet they remain as problems, would we want IL to insist such as a sprint coach were employed?

IL at the fans forum said that we needed a more solid backroom staff and Forshaw needed help in acheiving this .He could see the problem then and he said he would look into employing more staff.Could finances be a factor as to why he has not done this?? looking at the figures that JL displayed showing losses for the previous years. My opinion he is trying to manage the salary cap first and foremost and trying to balance the books coaching staff dont count on the salary cap but their wages take a big chunk of the income.

I thought the losses were a paper loss to fund the purchase of Orrell? A one off?

There is no salary cap for backroom staff and IMO we don't need an army of them anyway. A specialist sprint coach is just one extra salary that could reap a lot of benefit IMO.

Mind you as I think CPW alluded to, what qualifications does Foreshaw have as a conditioner? We already employ backroom staff but just as with the players, are they good enough?

Jaws I do not think money is an overriding issue. The club is healthy financially and IL has plenty. I just think you can accept that the salary cap constrains your team building but elsewhere it does not and you need to maximise the players you have. What I cannot fathom is a sprint coach is old hat and something that should be common place. Likewise every NRL club now has a wrestling coach. Maybe if we had one we would concede less penalties. Worse still, Wigan is renowned for wrestling.

Nothing irks me more than commentators saying Wigan looked better when Feka was on the field and yet the duration of his playing stints remain set in stone. Where is the progression? Is it too much to expect the backroom staff to be able to sat extend Fekas playing time by 5 minutes in 2/3 months? 10 minutes in 5/6 months?

Dave if i remember rightly the losses were for 4 years previous as well .Millwards pay off ,Feildens transfer etc upgrading of Orrell.
CP i am totally with you about the sprint coaching and the fitness levels especially Feka. I have said in threads before we need more time with ball in hand and less time in the gym.
