A average over 4 measurements isn't meaningless. There is just less certainty on its value than an average over 4000 samples...
Don't get me started
Yeah it did include the Pia and Whitehaven games. It also included the Leeds game were we conceded 8 points and the Wakefield game in which we conceded 4 points. The Wakefield game is the one that you thought we were dire in, because we only scored 8 points. You had very little interest in our defence that night, even though our defence was brilliant. We carried that defence through to the Leeds game.DaveO wrote:And I'll make it simple for you. You would fail any stats exam of you posted this as an argument.mario wrote:Dave

average points conceded with lockers in the team = 21.5
average points conceded without Lockers in the team = 30
Surely that means that our defence is worse without him?
He has only missed four games whereas no doubt you have averaged all the other games (including the 74-4 and 106-8 victories where won only conceded 12 points in total against duff opposition?)
An average over four games compared to one over the rest is statistically meaningless.
However what you can do is look back over the results and see we have conceded over 45 twice and have often conceded in the high twenties.
Anyone saying the defence has got worse in the last four games is ignoring how rubbish its been all season just to make a point about Lockers IMO.
In fact you could argue Leeds and Cas were, compared to many other games "better" defensive performances with 22 and 26 points conceded as we conceded that many or more in five previous matches.

Surely enough proof that this season Hansen is a much better defensive player, and much better player overall than Sean O'Loughlin. He's ahead in every department and the amount of carries compared to meters shows he makes more impact going forward too.
However we still miss Lockers, as he's our second best defensive player. His defence is strong and we need him back in the side because we can't rely on just Hansen to make the tackles when he doesn't even play a full game.
