Someone posted it was a three month course. If so while it shows guts to complete it I can't see that it is of any relevance to his career at Wigan or anywhere else as a player. What counts is his talent as a player compared to his rivals for a slot in the side. On that score he has too many better players in front of him here.Hes still young, he's big and strong, speedy for a SR (not fast enough for wing) having gone through the rigours of the SAS course and being one of the very few in his group to complete it he has proved he has the guts and determination to succeed.
He has no chance at Wigan to get a place in the 2nd row long term. Hansen is also young and a better 2nd row, Hock is not going to lose his place to Colbon and at 13 we have Lockers. Add to that there are young players who will cost less than Colbon needs to earn (if he is to make a worthwhile career as and RL player) who are also back row forwards such as Tomkins and Mossop I just can't see how he has a future in the Wigan pack.I hope he is given chances in the future to make this position his own as I feel he could be just as successful as Hock, Hansen etc.
He isn't good enough now to oust these players from the 17 when everyone is fit and they are of similar age to him. The only reason he gets to play in the pack is because Noble is reluctant to play younger players when we have injuries.
Hansen, Hock, Lockers, Tomkins and Bailey are all competing for three positions this season. When they are all fit he has no chance. With Mossop and Tuson coming through he surely has no chance in the future either.
He certainly tries hard but if he wants first team footy he himself must realise it won't be at Wigan.
