Your Position if you played for Wigan?

Unfortunately it would change with age. Started as a centre. Played some stand off too. As the waist expanded and the years multiplied loose forward then to prop.

I was a decent left centre with a good right hand hand off,played above my age group etc but unfortunately I am of an age when RL was in the doldrums and they made us play Union so I ended up playing an awful lot of football instead.

Sounds silly now but back then if you were from Standish or Shevington, RL was virtually non existent.

I had the same problem in my day, my school only played Union, which I hated - usually stood on the wing shivering while the forwards messed about and the fullbacks kicked it to each other.

Left wing or left centre was where I played (Union and League) but only briefly in both sports. School was poor for RL. These days at 12 and a half stone I'd get swatted off like a fly so it would have to be scrum half but looking at the size of Tim Smith's arms I think my best position would be left back in the dressing room.

Then again there is always Nobby's job....

Played second row but gave it up after what I thought was my best game for Pats as I walked off I thought I would get a little praise from my Dad instead he said ''ner mind lad''I was gutted and seeing as that was the best I could give realised I would never be good enough so jacked it in played a few more times mainly filling in when my mates team was short but if I had the choice loose forward so the Lucky13 shirt, plus I would love reading all the stick a 13 gets off Medlocke

Junior RU is much better because up until the age of about 12 they don't have 15 players on the pitch and kicking doesn't feature a great deal as the kids don't have the power to boot the ball that far. Many things are not allowed including the daftest one of all, lifting in the line out.

My son plays RU and now its getting bad npw because as he has got older they do have 15 on the pitch, they all want to punt the ruddy ball and as he plays wing he sees it once a game if he is lucky.

Sounds better. Back in my day it was the full rules at all ages. Rules which nobody really knew and chaos. The ruck/maul (not sure which one) was like a bunch of primary school children playing that silly game where they all jump on top of somebody.

Used to play RL but when I got too old and it was wednesday before I could move freely after saturday had a season off, went playing RU for a laugh. Once got to grips with stupid rules found I enjoyed it but a lot of the team I play for are former RL lads so we play it like RL, dont kick much and attack from anywhere, opponents cant handle it. Also when you defend, the odd tackle you actually get to make you smash the crap out of them and they dont like it. Then you go and have a load of beer and a good laugh, wake up on sunday and you can move.
If selected, anywhere in the forwards.

also played hooker a couple of times and i was decent there, a bit like newton, can read a game very well!

was a winger when i was at school as i was one of the shortest in the year and was a bit nippy but now would say i would be a second row or prop as i have grown quite abit since i left school.
