I'm rather hoping he's able to make his own judgements about when it's time for things to change at the top of his club, or that ML realises the mess the club is currently in and his responsibilities and takes appropriate action.
This is more or less my current thoughts. As far as ML goes I have always tried to judge him on each issue seperately as they come and not tar him with one brush of either being completely useless and evil or God's gift to Wigan and RL in general.
For example the Gasnier saga had it come off would have had people praising him from the rooftops. At least he tried to sign a top class player rather the the usual NRL rejects that inhabit SL.
He is right over the 20/20 and getting rid of that.
However recently he does seem to have lost the plot in terms of managing the squad. We all know it has always been him who signs the players and more often than not this has worked for us in the past. It doesn't seem to be working at the moment (although most were happy enough with pre-season recruitment). He has placed a lot of faith in young Wigan produced players to the extent we look very lightweight and inexperienced.
At the same time has let Andy Farrell leave. I don't want to go over all that again except to say I think this was a huge mistake on his part and his acceptance of the RFU's timetable has and is causing a lot of unrest.
We see Craig Smith turning out again down under. We could have used him for another 12 months especially as O'Connor has gone as well. Another mistake.
He recently tried to sign Hopkins from London and failed. That would have addressed the inexperience in the second row we are suffering from with Hock out for the season but meanwhile Saints sign an NZ international right from under his nose. Screwed up again.
I don't hold with the idea he was wrong to let Robinson go as he is not the type of player Wigan needed to keep hold of. That was the C Smith's and Farrells of this world.
So I guess I should sign the petition? Well not really. Granted there are more negatives than positives in the above catalogue of events but I don't see an likely alternative.
If we had some plausable candidate to replace him then maybe I would support him or her.
As far as I am concerned Mo has a chance to rectify all this once the Farrell saga is concluded and he finally leaves. He must bring in some experience and not just any old unknown.
I am not saying we should make stupid bids for the likes of Lockyer that haven't a hope in hell of coming off but we need some real quality in the side.
If Mo delivers then fair enough. If he doesn't I can't see what his excuses can be for getting the squad into the state it is in.
