They are now trying to attract rugby league in scotland.pedro wrote:it sounds a joke as they said they classed facilities as key. When you look at Cas, Wakefield and Celtic. They all say old but well maintained (they musnt have been to Cas or Wakey). Lewis said Cas are on he way to start building. It will prob take 3 years so in that case they should apply then. Celtic dont even have an academy. Its a shambles.
Feel sorry for Leigh and Widness as they saw their short comings and did something about it.
When Wakey were promoted they did so with the promise they would improve their ground, they should be kicked out due to them just lying about it.
Least we all know why the magic weekend really isnt in Wales next year.

Re: Wigan and the Franchise
I personally felt the NL clubs misread who they should target. The RFL were always going to opt for 1 development franchise and 1 RL heartland franchise. Development is the holy grail for the RFL. Therefore, the likes of Widnes, Leigh et al need to be attacking the Wakefields and Cas's rather than Celts.
Dave I found the obsession with shareholder dependence very odd. When Widnes first started to have financial problems many years ago it was attributed to the archaic club membership style of ownership. Wealthy shareholders are the way clubs in all other sports achieve success. The RFL would seemingly criticise Abrahomvich if he invested in a RL club.
Footnote: At lerast we now know Richard Lewis is still alive. His lack of presence had led me to believe he had been kidnapped.

Mcillorum?
Tompkin?
Mossop?
Colborn?
Goulding?
We are getting tonked by the best teams whilst trying to give that lot a go. Many more and we will seriously plummet the depths once again.

Made me laugh when it said we were dependant on a new shareholder. Does that mean every other club supports itself?
