imo its now the time for the 3 above player to get as much game time as poss till the end of the season.
noble wanted these 3 lads to go out on loan mossop/salford sam tomkins/castleford stanton/widnes the day b4 the lads were due to go JOE LYDON stopped all 3 going on loan.
There a few fans on here who go to the reserve they will tell that the 3 need a chance why stick with players that wont be here next year.
MOSSOP= BACK ROWER/PROP
STANTON= WINGER/FULLBACK/HOOKER[dont come back at me about is size if anybody as any douts have a chat with shaun wane

Thir case has been growing all season even before tomkins' debut v Whitehaven... Mossop has been a 'nearly there' character.

With regards to Stanton... if Noble has a problem with Calderwood - nobody seems to know whats going on - and Richards perhaps being more of a fullback recently, why not give him a try? Shaft Phelps into #9 with Higham and have Stanton, ive seen him 3 or 4 times now before SL matches and he is a good character, backed up by stats and people who regularly watch the U21s...

If Colbon can make the step up surely Stanton can.

The problem is Smith - not saying he personally is the problem but it's unlikely now Noble will drop him, or phelps especially when Hock has a very long holiday coming up.

i say give stanton a chance in the first team i noticed alot of times we shifted it wide on friday(huddersfield game)and colbon and goulding sprint down outside of the wing because they both lack pace and confidence people say tht stanton is too small and will get attacked wiw the high bombs in the superleague frankly i think tht he cudnt do a worse job tht colbon so they might aswell through him in and see wat he can do :D

Absolutely agree with all of the above. This season's a write-off anyway, so give them some game time with a view to the future.

Only problem is drafting in young players with the present first team shower may set them back , you need to be shown... have someone to look up to and follow , the team completely lacks that it could have a detrimental effect

Yeah, you could say that but to be honest, they are wiganers! They might have some passion and will to play for the shirt!

Think how we would feel if we where given the chance to go out there and right some of the wrongs of that drivel that is garenteed a place. Either Noble needs to grow some balls and DROP people (it's in the oxford english dictionary brian) or JL has to step in and get some of these a place.

As for Sam Tomkins, it seems it's prety obvious this guy should be getting a few first team games. Saints have brought Eastmond in so why can't Wigan bring in Tomkins. Against Whitehaven his best assett was his support play, something that this team desperately needs!Should be getting picked ahead of Smith! I've got noth ing against Tim Smith but Tomkins has more than earned his chance to step up.
I have been thinking along the same lines. One reason is I think a reason Saints and Leeds are successful is the stability they have in key positions such has half backs and hooker.

With Smith he is clearly here to resurrect his career and we only have him for what is left of this and next season.

So we end up with a new half back partnership again for 2009 and another new one in 2010.

Since I thought about this it seems to me getting Tomkins a few games now as sub and then simply "going for broke" and chucking him in the deep end next season as the regular no. 6 gives us a chance to have a player who can occupy a key position for possibly 10 years.

The fear he will not be up too it next season is always there but if he is as good as people say when are we going to play him? When he is 23 !!?? (If he sticks around that long...)

All of this has nothing to do with rumours T Smith has been out getting bladdered but simply down to the fact we seem to be trying for short term fixes rather than stability. Do we need a half back on what is in effect a one season contract?

Even our new no. 9 and saviour is only here for three years. How long have KFC and Diskin been playing for their clubs?

Agree with you re Tomkins.Re Riddell though how do you know he won't sign another deal and be here longer? Also if we had got him on a longer deal and he was a flop in the first season there would have been an outcry. Its a no win situation with that one i think

looks like mossop will be getting more game time now hock looks like he is going to get a ban. I like the look of him, he is absolutely huge and I think he could potentially become better than gareth hock, he also seems to have more of a rugby brain than hock does and can control his agression so that he uses it in his play and not in stupidity.

I would definately be tempted to play sam tomkins now, I would move barrett to loose and keep leuluai in the half back role, moving him to hooker when tomkins comes on. After all he would put in more effort than most of them at the minute. He is finding the reserves too easy so he needs to make a step up.

Nicky is another who could potentially be a wigan superstar, he really does remind me of brett dallas! The build and the speed, he also is a gem with his kicking and if richards is injured he would be a more than adequate relationship.

I would like us to have a back line of something like

1. Richards
2. Stanton
3. Carmont
4. Goulding
5. Phelps

Nobby needs to get stern with the players and bring in a policy, if you dont perform you dont play!
