Reserves pile on the misery for Hull
Reserves pile on the misery for Hull
72-0 Sam Tomkins scored 4 tries. Prescott played.
Re: Reserves pile on the miser...
I would loan several of our youngsters to a Queensland Cup Club and some of the very young ones to say a Jerseyy Flegg NRL team.God wrote:And why isnt Tomkins playing in the first team, clearly head, shoulders and feet above the rest in the reserve league.
Eastmond comes very close but thats it.Looking forward to seeing him on a regular basis we could have another Edwards on our hands at the rate this lad is developing.

Because IL says that the standard of competition for the reserves is that poor, it ill equips them for actually making the step up to super league.God wrote:And why isnt Tomkins playing in the first team, clearly head, shoulders and feet above the rest in the reserve league.

Only 3 or so teams take the competition seriously enough. The likes of Warrington spend all their cap money on the first team, poaching players who have come through the ranks of there more progressive opposition clubs when necessary (or able to).

The best form of defence is attack!!

Two questionsGod wrote:Good idea they will certainly know how to defend after that stint and they will be sharper in attack.
For some players the reserves is too easy and the step up to Super League to far also the National league is a false league for intensity on a game to game basis.
So playing in a league thats more intense will do the younger players good. And imo the reserve league in Austraila would be ideal.
1.Why would the aussie club want them 2. If they went and were successful would we not be in danger of losing them to the aussie club
Re: Reserves pile on the miser...
3 Might like the lifestyle and not come back.
Re: Reserves pile on the miser...
Most Queensland RL Clubs are now feeders for NRL Clubs. So as an example, Canberra reserves are South Logan Magpies. Why would they want them? Money, prestige, boost attendances, damn good players. If we lose some so be it. THe return from those that do not stay in Aus outweighs that risk. Those that do stay might strengthen GB as a national team.Fujiman wrote:Two questionsGod wrote:Good idea they will certainly know how to defend after that stint and they will be sharper in attack.

The alternative is that our reserves tour Down Under for 8-12 weeks playing various teams. Whilst there they could receive top classcoaching on a consultancy basis.
Re: Reserves pile on the miser...
Don't know how it would boost attendances and what do you mean by money? We would pay the aussies to have them? Also you say "THe return from those that do not stay in Aus outweighs that risk" but does it? Surely it means that they keep the good unscpwigan wrote:Most Queensland RL Clubs are now feeders for NRL Clubs. So as an example, Canberra reserves are South Logan Magpies. Why would they want them? Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Had to smile at Sam Reay. One of the Hullplayers was giving him the verbals calling him fatty. Same just smiled and said I have managed to skip past you twice.
