I'm not sure that only playing half a season or whatever is always important. I seem to remember a certain Andrew Farrell who won all the awards in his final season despite missing a good chunk at the start of the year with one of those knee injuries he used to regularly start the season with before he defected to union.
Having said that, Hock's now not likely to play more than the odd play-off game for us this year so it's been a pretty poor season for him overall. Sometimes brilliant, other times terrible but overall mostly absent, and that's not good enough. Bailey hasn't impressed in the 2nd row as much as I expected, and Hansen's not been as good this year as last, so I think we needed a more consistent Hock playing from the back row this year and we've not had it.
Hock and Lockers are quite similar in some respects. When they have good seasons, they are brilliant. When they don't, they're terrible. There's no middle ground with either of them.
