Fielden was given the contract he was because of his form at the time we were signing him. He was the best prop forward in the world at the time of signing and since then he has impressed, apart from the last 3 months when he seems to be getting back to the old fielden.

The thing is with stu is that he was playing continuous rugby from the start of his career, because of the exceptional talent he was. He was playing 80 minutes a week for bradford which is not going to do a prop forward good, however good he is.

When he first signed for us he was again playing some games of 80 minutes and continued touring with great britain. Then all of a sudden he was out of the great britain squad, giving his body time to heal from all the endless contact which you recieve as a prop. Now his body has begun to heal he is beginning to rediscover his form, which can only be good for us.

Prop forwards usually peak at around 28-30 but because fielden was and still is such an immense player this break from internationals can only do him good. Was fielden in his prime at 21?? I think the same will happen to burgess, he will go through a severe dip in form and then come back.

Fielden will continue to give effort and improve, in my opinion. But because of the massive contract he is on he will be under more pressure than anyone else.

Most Bradford supporters believe his form was poor for 12 months before he signed for us. He had a good WCC but then again so did Sculthorpe in 2007. 1 game does not make a season. Internationally his form was dipping. Have a look at his last 2 Tri Nations.

Why do you think he is a great player?

Whether I rate Briers or anybody else is actually immaterial. What I do know is our senior highly paid players are £ for £ the worst in SL.

Bailey is another apparently well paid. I am not sure I would even select him in the 17 when everybody is fit. You think I dislike Fielden
That will always be down to personal opinion!

As someone who often likes to quote these "stats" in criticism of certain players, I find it amazing that you will not compare the so called "stars" at other SL clubs to our own. Just blatantly ignore the fact that each and every club contains highly paid players not worthy of there huge salary.
In most cases, the highly paid players at other top clubs are being selected for England, which shows how well regarded they are. We look like having no reps this year, despite having qualified players on roughly the same salary as those from other clubs who have been picked. Doesn't that tell you anything? If the likes of Fielden, Hock, O'Loughlin had been giving value for money, they'd be back in the England squad. (I count absence through injury/suspension since we're still paying them even though not playing - so by definition they're not value for money).

Does everyobody forget injuries???

For most of last season SF played with ripped fascia muscles, heels spurs and knacked shoulder ligamnets.

It's easy to come into a game full of expectation but with injuries like above, I'd be off on the sick for surgery and 2-3 months recovery just to do a non physical job. RL and club demand doesn't always allows players that luxery.

As fans we expect performance. But form and peak physical condition isn't like that............????

Craid Smith played with worse and was still putting in better performances than Fielden has.

He isnt the only player to play through the pain barrier if he is world class he would still show some kind of brillinace. Now we are happy when he has an ok game due to the fact it is an improvement on his very poor ones. It seems we are accepting more and more mediocre players and performances at the club and unless this is sorted we will always be mediocre.

I for one will not be watching Wigan again this season, I have waited for a few days to see if my view will change before saying this after that shameful game against Leeds.

There has been too many this season for my taste and to watch a team of no hopers is not my type of entertainment anymore.

If anyone on here says that Fielden is any good then you don’t know what you are talking about… Fielden a prop don’t make me laugh.

Thats good to hear, everyone has the right to make their own mind up when watching the complete disgraceful performances we have seen all to often this season.

Do you know I would rather pay to watch the young lads down on the local field play rugby, at least that is honest rugby and played by people who want to win and not protect themselves from injuries so they get match money the week after..

Can anyone on here say that the players put 100% in every week and play the game hard and honestly..

Do I work hard and take home an honest days pay...YES

So anyone who wants to be swindled out of their hard earned money and give it to people who are not working as hard then so be it.. Like it has been said everyone has a chose don’t they!
